At Amelia Earhart School (AES) instruction is focused around inquiry-based concept driven curricula. We have developed our curriculum using the International Baccalaureate Organization’s Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). This program is for learners ages 3 to 12. It focuses on developing the whole child to become a caring, productive, and innovative global citizen who continues to be a lifelong learner.

As an IB World School, AES is part of an international organization that offers high-quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools. Students at Amelia Earhart can continue on the pathway of the IB continuum by participating in the Middle Years Program (MYP) offered at John Glenn Middle School and then the Diploma Program (DP) offered at La Quinta High School. To find out more about these programs click here.

The PYP focuses on developing each students inquiry process throughout all disciplines. This is articulated through teachers developed units organized in the PYP programs six transdisciplinary themes called out Program of Inquiry. Our POI is used to provide students with the opportunity to use knowledge and skills learned and practiced in all subject areas. This is done by inquiry-based teaching and learning which is driven by conceptual understandings to help develop international mindedness.

The cornerstone of the IB Programs rests on the value of lifelong learning. One essential concept that links all programmes is the Learner Profile.
