Graduation Information

Graduation Dress Code

Desert Sands Unified School District dress code must be adhered to for participation in graduation activities.

Gentlemen: Suggest you wear a button dress shirt with fold-over collar and dress pants.  Dress shoes and ties are also appropriate.

NO jeans/denim or shorts.

Ladies: Suggest you wear a dress, skirt and blouse, or slacks and blouse.  Dress shoes sandals with back straps are also appropriate.

NO jeans/denim please or shorts.  

Graduation Ticket Information

Each participating senior will receive  a maximum 8 Graduation tickets.   Tickets will be handed out at Senior check out with Mrs. Guarino the last week for Senior, Week of May 18, 2026.      

Anyone wanting to attend the ceremony will need a ticket.  Children under 10 months will not need a ticket, but must sit on parents' lap.  Children older than 10 months will need a ticket.  If the child remains in the car seat/baby carrier then the child will need a ticket.  We prefer no car seats, baby carriers or strollers in the gym.

Ceremony Do's and Don't

Horizon School's graduation is a dignified ceremony with celebration to take place following commencement.  Horizon School would also like all graduation attendees be able to enjoy the ceremony; therefore we ask families and friends to refrain from cheering, whistling, or creating noise when the seniors are presented so that all families may have their child recognized. 

Please do not bring the following items:  air horns, beach balls, balloons, flower arrangements, posters, sign or other distraction.  Video cameras and equipment MUST be lap-held. No standing, moving around in the aisles or blocking views of audience while taking photos.  

PRACTICE INFORMATION

Practice will be held at TBA from 11:00 to 12:00pm. on May 26, 2026.  Practice is mandatory if you want to participate in the ceremony. 

Transportation will NOT be provided.  All graduating seniors should meet the Horizon Staff at the TBA at 10:30am.  

All graduates must wear the NEW cap and gowns for 2026.  There is not charge for the Cap and Gown unless you wish to purchase your own Cap and Tassel for a keepsake.  Jostens handles all ordering of the Cap and Tassels. 

Cap and Gowns will be handed out to graduates at the beginning of graduation practice or during Senior check out.
