Counselor's Corner
Meet the Counselor
Hello! My name is Tanya Magaña and I am the School Counselor at Lincoln Elementary School. I have worked at Lincoln Elementary for 11 years and I love being a part of the Lincoln Leopard community!
A little about me: I grew up in Coachella, CA with my parents and three sisters. I played softball for 10 years and continue to love the sport today. I was very shy and quiet, and sports really helped me "break out of my shell." I enjoy "glamping", reading, and swimming. My favorite place to be is the beach.
My role: I believe all students are capable of success. Sometimes however, our students have a lot in their minds and it may become difficult to focus in the classroom. My priority as a School Counselor is to provide students with intentional social and emotional support, through individual or small group friendship circles. In counseling, students will have a safe environment to share their thoughts and feelings, will learn self regulation with calming and coping strategies while developing /maintaining positive self esteem. Some of the friendship circles I offer include a grief group, a divorce group, anger management, impulse control, and a friendship skills group that includes conflict solving.
