Meet the interventionists

"Reading is important, because if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything." —Tomie dePaola

Mrs. Manguson

I am so excited  to be the reading specialist here at Dover-Eyota Elementary School! I have had the wonderful experiences of teaching Kindergarten and 2nd grade and I love this reading adventure!

Before coming to Dover-Eyota, I taught 6th grade in a Spanish Immersion program in Northfield, MN.

I am originally from Duluth, MN where I still have family. We enjoy spending time "up north" when given the opportunity. I attended the University of MN, Duluth where I majored in Spanish and Elementary Education with a Kindergarten endorsement and minor in dance - quite the combiniation that I continue to find very useful! During my days at UMD I was fortunate to travel and study abroad. I spent time studying in Spain and traveling throughout Spain and France on my way to Denmark. I also traveled throughout Australia while completing a student teaching assignment in Geelong, Australia. I use these experiences often in my teaching.

After graduating UMD, I started a new chapter and moved to Northfield, MN where I taught 6th grade in the Companeros program, an elementary Spanish-Immersion program. During this time I also got married to my husband, Jeremy. The commute to Northfield from Rochester got to be a bit much, so I began to look for a new position. Lucky for me, Dover-Eyota was hiring! I started out teaching Kindergarten part-time, coaching the dance team and teaching in the footsteps program. It was a fabulous switch! I happily taught Kindergarten for 9 years before moving to 2nd grade where I taught for 4 years.

During my years in Kindergarten and 2nd grade, a lot has changed! I completed my Master of Education degree through the University of Minnesota and became a licensed reading specialist, completing my classes at Hamline University and passing the reading specialist test.

Jeremy and I have 3 amazing children, Grace, Zachary and Luke. With 5 years between each of them, there is always a new adventure happening at our house and rarely a dull moment!

Besides family fun and teaching, I enjoy reading, dancing and traveling.

A little about me... this is my sixteenth year teaching.  I taught in the Stewartville School District for twelve years, first as a fifth grade teacher, and then I became a reading specialist after earning my K-12 reading license and Masters in Literacy from SMU, Winona.  For the past 13 years, I have also taught for the K-12 Reading Program at Saint Mary’s University.

My family and I reside in St. Charles.  My husband and I have three wonderful children, Bode who is 10, Elin who is 8, and Amry who is 6.  When I am not working I enjoy reading, doing yoga, and being with my family!
