TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
I believe that all students are unique and need teachers who cater to their individual needs in a safe and stimulating environment. I want to create a classroom where students can flourish and explore to reach their full potential. My goal is also to create a warm, loving environment, so students feel safe to take risks and express themselves. Students who are motivated and inspired to learn will come to school with a positive mindset and strive to succeed.
About me
I have taught for 12 years. This is my 11th year teaching at Dover-Eyota, and my 7th year teaching 4th grade. I never gave up on my dream to be a teacher. In 2009, I took my first college course. I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Winona State University-Rochester in 2013. Along the way, I encountered many adventures while making air filters for the Donaldson Company, working as a special education paraprofessional for St. Charles and Dover-Eyota School Districts, and a Detention Deputy for the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have three adult children: Rachel, Kristal, and Cody. My granddaughter, Paige, will be in 7th grade this year. I also enjoy reading, football, Nascar, and helping on the farm, where we raise beef cattle and crops. I have two ivory labs, Haley and Skylar, and one house cat, Sully (who is on his 5th life), which I consider my “fur babies”. I also have two goats, Mac and Wally.
