Hello to all Dover-Eyota students and families! I am so excited to start my 33rd year in education and my seventh year at D-E Elementary. Spending my days with such energetic and inquisitive minds keeps me feeling young!
I moved to the area from up north in 2019. I grew up in the Twin Cities, but I lived in beautiful Walker, MN near Leech Lake for about 25 years. I spent those years teaching in a small, rural district called Northland Community Schools. We served students from Remer, Longville, Boy River, Federal Dam, Sugar Point, and Outing, MN. Have you heard of any of those tiny towns? They’re full of deer, bears, lakes with lots of fish, beautiful birch and pine trees, but not so many people!
During my years at Northland, I taught many age levels of students - from kindergarten phy. ed. to high school French and several grades in between! My longest stretch was about 10 years teaching fifth grade. I even spent a year coaching my fellow teachers on how to become the best reading teacher they could be! My family wanted to make a move, so I was so happy to join the second grade team at D-E in 2019! I have learned that the D-E staff, students, and families are AMAZING! In whatever way this year unfolds, I know it will be full of challenges, fun, and growth. I am excited to work with you all. 😊
When I’m not in school, I like to read, spend time with my husband and three children, hang with my doodles Hazel and Bailey, putz around the house with various projects, and attend both school and professional sporting events. My favorite teams are the Vikings, Lynx, Timberwolves, and Rushford-Peterson Girls Basketball! (Sorry- I have to cheer for my daughter!🏀)
As we get to know each other, I hope you will soon learn that partnership with families and communication are of highest priority in my classroom. I so look forward to getting to know you all!
It’s going to be a GREAT YEAR in second grade!
Love, Mrs. Loney
