Welcome to Dover-Eyota Schools! We value developing the whole child. What does this mean? It means that we will do everything possible to teach, work with, and offer opportunities to grow academically, as well as socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. All of these components are important to us and help us to be "Good Humans". Our staff will strive daily to be good examples of "Good Humans" and set the tone for the expectations we have for our students. We ask families to partner with us in the process of helping all to do their best in all phases of development. As we do, we will have a great environment that allows learning to happen at the highest levels possible. We will start this process with a mantra that has been engrained for a long time within the Dover-Eyota community and especially at the elementary, which is at Dover-Eyota, "We are kind!"
I now invite you to "Join Our Bus", where we live, follow, and teach the values from the book The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon. As we keep things positive and interact with those who are also positive, we will find better, more productive solutions to our problems, concerns, and fears!
I look forward to seeing you around the building and around the community!

About Mr. Midge- First and foremost Mr. Midge has 6 wonderful kids, McKenzie, Addy, Alex, Sam, Cecelia, and Peter. While two are adult children now, Mr. Midge is enjoying watching them make a path for themselves in the world. The remaining 4 range from 5th grade to a Senior in High School! He has enjoyed having all of them either as students in his classroom or as students while being the principal.
Originally from the Brainerd Lakes Area and a 2000 graduate of Brainerd High School, Mr. Midge has spent time in 3 excellent school districts including, Plainview-Elgin-Millville as a teacher for 8 1/2 years. Carlton Schools as principal for 5 1/2 years. Now he proudly serves as the elementary principal for the Dover-Eyota School District for the past three years and looks forward to year number four.
Some highlights of Mr. Midge's time as a principal include, seeing two building projects, establishing PBIS processes in a building, initiating a movement to 1-to-1 devices in two schools, establishing Standards Based Grading, selecting Reading Curriculum, and lastly helping to start both Nature Base Kindergarten and a full 5 day preschool class to meet the ongoing needs of the community. He has been blessed to work with countless students, staff, and parents. He looks forward to meeting with and helping many more to come!
