Welcome to

Dover-Eyota Elementary Art

Welcome to the Dover-Eyota Elementary Art! I am excited to share my love of art and creating art with the students of Dover-Eyota. All students will have one semester of art during the school year; either September-January or January-June.

I believe all students are capable of creating good art. Often times though creating art is about the journey. Through visual art, students are able to develop a sense of self, learn to empower others, become aware of other cultures, and ascertain the ability to think creatively outside of the box. Creating art helps students hone critical thinking and develop skills of social and creative problem solving. Students will use the elements of art and principles of design to create a portfolio of original works of art. Students will evaluate their work and the work of others through art critiques.

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse where I focused on painting and printmaking. I completed my masters degree from Saint Mary’s University in 2020. I have worked in many areas including health care, business, and education. This is my 5th year of teaching at D-E

My family and I live in rural southeastern Minnesota where we enjoy spending time outdoors; gardening, going for walks, and stargazing. We also enjoy trying out new recipes made from the things we grow. These interests inspire the art I personally create which includes painting, jewelry, ceramics, and culinary art.

Families are welcome to approach me with ideas for the art room. If you are able to volunteer your time, I would greatly appreciate your help in various ways from hanging artwork to just being an extra set of hands in the art room. We are also always on the hunt for recycled materials and hand me down supplies. If there is something you have that you think might be useful, please let know.
