About Me

I am Mr. Ayer, teacher in the DHS English Department.

The 2022-2023 year will be my 18th at Deptford and my 21st teaching. I originally hail from New England and bring with me a diverse outlook on life, teaching, and English Language Arts. This school year I am teaching Seniors and Public Speaking & Debate. The Seniors focus primarily on World literature covering a range of diverse literature from ancient and sacred texts to philosophy and drama. The Public Speaking & Debate will spend a marking period on speaking skills with a focus on informative and persuasive speeches, and then we'll spend a marking period on debate primarily focused on Lincoln-Douglas style and research skills. I also coach Cross Country (and recently stepped aside from years of Winter and Spring Track) and supervise Musical Stage Crew among the many hats I wear here at DHS.
