HISTORY

Masambong High School (MHS), as one of Department of Education’s (DepEd) active institutions, operates in consonance with the Department’s vision, to have in our midst Filipino citizens who strive to be at their best not solely for themselves and their families but more importantly Filipinos who are able to contribute to the country’s much needed development and progress. This is the prime reason why the school’s organization, all of its faculty and staff, work together as a team to provide accessible, quality, relevant and liberating education to its learners. As an institution of learning, the school and its faculty constantly improves itself to be of service to its stakeholders and to keep up with the changing world.

As a learning institution, Masambong High School is keen on improving its key performance indicators (Drop out, Repetition, Retention, Completion, Promotion, Cohort Survival Rates and students performance in Reading and Numeracy); the quality of teaching and learning it offers; and how the school is managed and governed.

The school works hard towards protecting the rights of each Filipino learner to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education by ensuring that school environment is conducive and child-friendly; teachers are equipped with the pedagogy and commitment to effectively nurture each learner; its administrators and staff are supportive to its cause; and that the schools external and internal stakeholder collaborate to effect relevant education responsive to the urgent needs and the challenges our country faces in the 21st century.

The School’s Improvement Plan (SIP) for 2019-22, crafted by the School’s Planning Team (SPT), in collaboration with the school’s different stakeholders provides direction for the school in achieving the Department of Education’s Vision and Mission while being guided with the core values, Maka-Diyos, Maka-tao, Makakalikasan and Makabansa. For example, in its aim to improve ACCESS by curbing dropout rate, absenteeism and improving learners engagement, the school plans to venture into various endeavours like Project MATIC 4.0 (Monitoring Absenteeism Through Intensive Conference and Community Involvement); Project GILASS Guarding and Implementing Late Comers Appropriate Sanction and Support; Project SALO Study Alternative and Learning Options; Project PARANGAL, Project CARE; and Project STAR (Sports, Talents AND arts).

In advancing QUALITY education that each Filipino learner deserves, the SPT proposes project RISE (Revitalized Instruction for Students’ Engagement) which targets to improve students engagement by improving the quality of the delivery of instruction. This sought the need to develop teachers professionally, and as individuals by giving more opportunities for them to learn, re-learn and unlearn skills and concepts through various platforms such as LAC session, In-Service Trainings and Class Observation.

For new teachers, we have implemented the Teachers Induction Program (TIP). The project also aims to provide the much needed support for ICT and modern tools acquisition for a more interactive and up-to-date teaching and learning. By enhancing the teachers’ capabilities and empowering to update themselves with the 21st teaching skills, they become better facilitators of learning that would definitely help our students become more productive youths who are proficient, competent and globally competitive individuals with a complete sense of nationalism.

The School Planning Team recognizes the importance to improve reading and numeracy of each learner to better equip him to learn more and to fully become functional literate. This will be realized through projects Every Juan READS and I Love MATH.

Imperative to attainment of the vision and mission is effective, transparent and collaborative GOVERNANCE which aims to institutionalize school-based management, child-friendly school system, increase stakeholder’s participation, improve school facilities and school processes. For 2019-2022, through Project IOS, the school will venture into improving school learning facilities, facilitating the construction of new appropriate to flood prone area buildings and construction of wash areas and drinking facilities. Ensuring safe school projects are also of vital importance thus the intensifying of our anti-bullying, anti-drug abuse campaign and disaster risk reduction management. Likewise, for 2019-2022, more venues for collaboration with parents and stakeholders shall be explored.

Certainly, the faculty and staff of Masambong High School and its stakeholders are united in aligning their efforts in realizing the Department of Education’s Vision, Mission as they commit to the values of being Maka-Diyos, Maka-tao, Makakalikasan, Makabansa.
