History of GSIS Village Elementary School
GSIS Village Elementary School stands on 9,346 square meters lot with land title number 102710 in Premium St., GSIS Village, Project 8, Barangay Sangandaan, Quezon City. The Village from which the school was name was established as a housing project for government employees. Today progress in the community is manifested by the increasing population, commercial entities and residential houses. The residents of the community range from A to D which means that there is diversity among the residents.
GSIS Village Elementary School was founded in 1968 as an annex school of Toro Hills Elementary School. The school had for its first principal Mrs. Estela A. Ponce. After three years, Miss Trinidad Juan was assigned as the school principal. Miss Juan was followed by Mr. Silvestre. In 1977, Dr. Honorata N. Nano took over the helms of the school. She was followed Dr. Belen J. Castro, Dr. Ruperta Gayadan, Dr. Juliet G. Navarra, Dr. Avelina P. Salvador, Mrs. Rosalinda Catan 1997 1998, Mr. Dionisio G. Villapando (1998 - 2000), Mrs. Paulina F. Platon (2000-2006), Dr. Lourdes G. Abalos (2006-2012), Dr. Grace C. Parungao (2012 May 2014), Mr. George C. Melegnito (June 2014 - January 24, 2015), Mrs. Alice O. Labilles PSDS/OIC (January 24, 2015- July 24, 2015) and Dr. Alicia F. Masubay from January 2016 up to the present
The school started with a three-room Marcos pre-fab building. After three years, another Marcos building was constructed. Today, GSIS Village Elementary School is a complete elementary institution which continue to provide adequate and meaningful basic education to 2,887 learners of school within the catchment areas namely Barangay Sangandaan, Bahay Toro, Talipapa and Tandang Sora.
From the walls of the classroom of GSIS Village Elementary School rose young people, some of whom became prominent leaders and responsible citizens of their community where they later chose to live. The school has nurtured children the value that make them meet problems that are ever present in everyday life.
