Doña Rosario Elementary School was formerly an annex of Rosa L. Susano Elementary School (Novaliches Elementary School). In the school year 1972-1973,the annex became autonomous under the leadership of Mrs. Primitiva S. de Jesus, the first principal with thirteen(13) teachers and one utility worker.
For a meantime, another extended school, Susano Novaliches Annex located along the Austria Street was transferred and merged with Doña Rosario Novaliches Annex that paved the way for the conversion of Doña Rosario Novaliches Annex to an independent elementary school.
Due to the booming learners’ population, the Doña Rosario Heights Subdivision was offered to the Quezon City government for school children to occupy the space totalling a land area of 12,098 square meters. The school then started with three school buildings where Mrs.Noli G. Domingo was the principal from 1974-1976. A Home Economics Building was constructed in 1992 but because of the rapid increasing population, the said building was handed down to high school upon recommendation of the Division of City Schools Quezon City.
A pre-fabricated building with six classrooms in BagongLipunan Building was gutted by fire on April 17, 2005. Buildings were constructed during the term of then, mayor Feliciano SB Belmonte in 2007. A 3-storey DPWH building with 12 classrooms was built following the demolition of 27-year old two storey NALGU Building. Likewise DepEd Building was constructed in place of the demolished structures. In 2009, a very strong Typhoon Ondoy affected the entire locality where Doña Rosario Elementary School had experienced tremendous flash flood brought about by continuous monsoon rains. Moreover, the La Mesa Dam had to release voluminous water which caused devastation and rapid increase in water level. These situations made Barangay captain Jose Visaya to call for help in renovating and repairing covered court and other structures in Barangay Nova Proper in 2010. In 2016, a modified covered court called Activity Venue was constructed sponsored by Hon. Alfredo D. Vargas under the leadership and administration of Dr.Reynaldo F. San Mateo. The said activity venue was used for cultural, kinesthetic, extension classes for academic subjects and socio-civic activities.
Today, the Doña Rosario Elementary School is striving to perform academically and non-academically under the leadership and management of Mrs. Nancy R. Ebardaloza. Information and Communication Technology has been established to hone the technical know-how and computer literacy among learners and teachers. The five learning areas are given intensification for the grade schoolers to prepare them in the national achievement tests. Academically, Science, Mathematics, English, Filipino and Social Studies are deeply taught to augment with the pressing needs in literacy and numeracy. Socio-cultural and civic-spirited activities are conducted in the school for the awareness of learners in their environment and involve them in the school activities.
