FOR GRADE 7 AND TRANSFEREE
In June 1976, Durian Elementary School located along Durian and Anonas Streets in Quirino District II, was fused with Quirino Elementary School. This was based on the City Government's directive to have only one (1) public elementary school in every district. Durian Elementary and Quirino Elementary are located in the same district and barangay. This directive initiated the establishment of Flora Ylagan High School, Durian Annex. FYHS used to occupy buildings of Pinyahan Elementary School before its transfer to its present site behind the Land transportation Office (LTO) at East Avenue, Quezon City. Its growing school population and limited school building facilities warranted the creation of an annex, hence the Flora Ylagan High School Durian annex, which became Don Quintin Paredes High School. The school started with 346 students in four year levels. The 13 pioneer teachers of the eight (8) subject areas were headed by the first principal, Mrs. Virginia Cerrudo. The classes occupied the ten rooms being rented at the Philippine Home site and Housing Corporation style of building. This housed the academic, vocational classes and administration offices. In June 1979, three years after its inspection, Flora Ylagan High School Durian Annex became Don Quintin Paredes High School, in honor of the great statesman, lawyer, educator and nationalist from Bangued Abra. His invaluable contribution to education was his advocacy for reforms by way of accommodating the rejects of society into the institution he founded. Thus, out-of-school youth found a new lease and a new opportunity to acquire education.
As the school's students population increased, the city government and the Division of city Schools saw the urgent need for a more spacious place for the school's burgeoning population. Two possible options were considered in addressing this need. Transfer the school to a site in 15th Avenue near the 15th Avenue Elementary School, or buying the lot which the school was then occupying. However, both options failed because the parents objected to a transfer to 15th Avenue in Cubao because of its distance and the owners refused to sell their property.
Don Quintin Paredes High School was finally transferred in 2003 to a three storey-12-room building fronting Lanzones Street corner Anonas constructed thru the countryside development fund (CDF) of Congressman Dennis Roldan which was not being used by Quirino Elementary School since they had more than enough classrooms for their needs. This then was donated for the use of the high school. Thus, the school occupied 2 classrooms of Sen. Coseteng Bldg. with the Memorandum of Agreement elementary school.
