Doña Juana Elementary School is one of the public schools in the metropolis located at St. Peter Street, Doña Juana Homes, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City. It has a total area of 3,356 square meters as per TCT declaration Number 212268.
DJES’ first year of operation was way back SY 1989 – 1990 after two years of working out in realizing the community’s dream of having an elementary school spearheaded by the Holy Spirit Homeowners Association Inc. (HOSHAI).
The group started the Herculean endeavor in the year 1987 by way of linkages to NGOs as well as the Quezon City government, with then City Mayor Brigido Simon who granted their request for elementary school buildings. That same year, then Honorable Congressman Antonio L. Aquino also approved a 2-storey, 8 - classroom building from his CDF including its allocation for the widening and cementing of San Simon and St. Peter Streets going to the school for the benefit of the pupils, parents and teachers. Several requests were made and submitted to some generous personalities in order to address the immediate needs of the fast growing population of the school.
The school catered to 400 pupils from Grades I – IV (complete primary) during its first year of operation as an annex of the Holy Spirit Elementary School. On June 1990, DJES’ enrolment increased to 1,500 with twelve (12) pioneer teachers from Grades I to VI when at the same time DJES became an independent school. Dr. Rosario T. Barrios–Honrejas was the first Principal. It was then classified as Principal I school with one security guard and one utility worker.
