Bungad Elementary School is located at M.H. Del Pilar St., Barangay Bungad, San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City, was formerly an annex of Esteban Abada Elementary School.
The school started its operation in school year 1957-1958, when Project 7 lots were awarded to the families of veterans. The residents enrolled their children at South Bago-Bantay Elementary School, now Esteban Abada Elementary School. The said school could not accommodate all the pupils so the city government rented four (4) project houses along Bakawan St., Project 7, Quezon City from the P.H.H.C. This was then called Bakawan Annex of South Bago Bantay Elementary School. The four project houses were converted into four classrooms that housed eight classes for grades I, II, III and IV. There were initially eight teachers.
In 1969, the 10-year contract between the government and PHHC was not renewed. It was also during this year that the barangay was able to acquire a 1,262 square meter lot which was initially intended as their plaza. Through the initiative of Barangay Captain MATIAS SANTOS, they decided to build a two-storey building, that will solve the rising number of school children of Barangay Bungad. The pupils of Bakawan Annex were then transferred to the new school building at Bungad which was originally named as Esteban Abad Elementary School Annex.
It was school year 1975-1976, when two classes for grades five and six were created after the schools division superintendent of Quezon City had appointed a Teacher- In- Charge for the school.
On June 3, 1976, Bungad Annex name was changed to BUNGAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. In its first year as an independent school, the enrolment and number of teachers increased. It was also during the school year that the school received a new Bagong Lipunan Building.
At present, Bungad Elementary School has 20 instructional classrooms and 21 teachers and 12 non-teaching staff.
