BAGONG SILANGAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HISTORY
In 1965, the Quezon City government acquired portions of land intended for housing projects of Quezon City employees. But due to its accessibility and mountainous terrain, it did not materialize. In 1968, one hundred sixty – four(164) demolished families from West Triangle settled along creek side and that was habitation started. School children had to cross the San Mateo Marikina River and were enrolled at San Mateo Central School. In 1970, the barangay allotted the five thousand (5000) square meters for the school. Barangay Captain Laureano Ramos led its constituents and a two-room school house was constructed for Grades I and II. The school was named Mababang Paaralan ng New Silangan as an annex of Balara Elementary School with three teachers. Unfortunately the school house was destroyed by typhoon and was replaced by pre-fab building in 1971. Four (4) teachers were added to teach Grade II and IV with Rosario Dimaano as Teacher in-Charge. It became a complete elementary school in 1971-1972 with Magdalena Perez as principal and was named as Bagong Silangan Elementary School which exist up to present.
Bagong Silangan Elementary School is a complete public elementary from Kindergarten, Grade I to VI, Special Education (SPED) and Alteranative Learning System (ALS) classes in School District VI in the Division of Quezon City, Metro Manila.
