ALS Programs
The two (2) Major Programs of ALS under the Non formal Education are the Basic Literacy Program (BLP) which aims to eradicate illiteracy among Out-of-School Youth (OSY) and adults (in extreme cases, school aged children) by developing basic literacy skills in reading, writing and numeracy; and the Accreditation & Equivalency (A&E) Program which aims to provide alternative pathway to acquire diploma for out- of- school youth and adults who have not yet completed their basic education as mandated by the DepEd and the Philippine Constitution. For this, school dropouts can continue and finish their elementary and secondary education.
The ALS Program in SDO - Paranaque is catered in the whole community through barangay-based and school-based Learning Centers in partnership with the LGUs and NGOs to make the program more accessible to everyone. ALS classes are held from Mondays to Sundays which fit according to the learners' needs and available time. This is also to accomodate more learners to participate in the program even for those that are already working daily for their living.
ALS Learners
ALS learners belong to various age groups and are also classified into different grade levels such as BLP, A & E Elementary and Secondary. The Schools Division of Paranaque city caters those learners who are 12 years old and above for BLP and elementary level and 16 years old and above for secondary level. Learners aged 11 years old and below are advised to enroll in the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) in the formal school system in the division. But learners who still chose ALS program are still accepted to attend interventions but advised that they could not take the A&E Test until such time that they reach the right age for the examination.
