HISTORY OF LAKANDULA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
In 1948, the Barangay Lakandula was under the Barangay Dau and this is the only one (1) of the purok which was name to “Sitio Camias”. Only 9 out of 10 families lived in the sitio. However, in 1969, the sitio was separated in the Barngay Dau and was declared a separate barangay due to its increasing population. With this, the elders have decided to name the barngay “Lakandula” coming from the famous hero Rajah Lakandula.
With this increasing population, the Lakandula Elementary School was donated by Don Adelaido Bernardo with an original 500 sq.m. only as a total land area. However due to constant demand as to the increase of number of pupils, in the school, it was decided by the Municipality of Mabalacat headed by former late Mayor Wilfredo Halili along with the members of the Sangguniang Bayan agreed to exchange the open space of 5, 638 sq.m. to a site occupied by the public school premises which was stipulated by a Resolution Letter no. 15, s-1976.
Originally, it was supposed to be erected at 12th St., but later they have decided to construct the school building at 18th St. The first barangay captain who spearheaded this barangay was Mr. Mariano Tanglao who served from 1960-1964 and was defeated during the election by Mr. Ponciano Bagsic who served for 18 years (1966-1984). Barngay Captain Fernando de Guzman served from 1984-1990 defeated him during the election who later settled down in abroad.
However, Mr. Jose “Teng” Dela Cruz won the election in 1997. Barangay Captain Jose “Teng” Dela Cruz served for two terms for almost 12 years.
The former principals who were assigned in this school were as follows: Mrs. Lucita Guevarra, Miss Rose Enriquez, Mrs. Carmelita P. Sotto, Mrs. Gloria Soto, Mrs. Rosalinda Tapang, Mrs. Amanda Tuazon, Mrs. Marietta Pelayo, Mrs. Lydia Luzuriaga, MRs. Vicky Cunanan, Mrs. Luz g. Fuellas, Mrs. Lucresia Dizon, Mrs. Cristina L. Dizon, Leonora Salonga, Priscilla delos Reyes, Licinia P. Arenillo. At present LES is headed by Mrs. Jennifer Bungque-Ilagan, Ed.D. as Principal II.
At present Lakandula Elementary School has 22 teachers. Where in 2 Master Teacher, 5 Teacher III, 7 Teacher II and 8 Teacher I under the care supervision of the Principal focuses on the commitment to render quality education so as to develop the pupils with adequate abilities and skills to progress and understand his/her role as a responsible citizen.
The Vision of Lakandula Elementary school envision a center of scientific and analytical thinking inspired by the unselfish guidance of competent, disciplined and morally upright mentors and administrators who will facilitate the learners in the attainment of life-long skills to make them valuable members of the society.
The Mission of Lakandula Elementary school provides learning inputs that inputs that improve learners in scientific and analytical thinking, communicative, numeric and value-formation enabling them to assume their roles as productive members of the community.
