The Adopt-A-School Program is the national partnership program of the Department of Education which engages stakeholders and partners from different public and private sectors, including international partners. It is one mechanism of the department to fill- in the gaps in resources of the schools in the Philippines.
The ASP was institutionalized through the Republic Act No. 8525 or the Adopt-A-School Program Act of 1998. The program also provide tax incentives of up to 150%, to private donors. This is one of the key features of the program to encourage private partners to come to school and extend their support.
The Brigada Eskwela is a yearly activity of the department to prepare the schools for the incoming opening of classes. It is dubbed the National Schools Maintenance Week.
During the Brigada Eskwela, community members, partners, and stakeholders come together to school and show the spirit of Bayanihan by doing works such as cleaning of the school area, repairing school facilities, repainting of school buildings and other facilities.
