BRIGADA ESKWELA
With the theme “Bayanihan Para sa Matatag na Paaralan,” this year’s BE underscored the country’s volunteer initiatives to ensure a clean, safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environment for learners and teaching and non-teaching personnel, and strengthen resiliency of schools and basic education.
The Department has issued DO No. 21, s, 2023, or known as the 2023 Brigada Eskwela Implementing Guidelines, to guide schools on sustaining partnership engagement activities and ensure its alignment with the components of the MATATAG Agenda.
Running from August 14 to 19, the advocacy program aims to encourage more local governments, communities, businesses, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other local and national partners to support the implementation of BE and contribute in adequately preparing public schools for the opening of classes on August 29.
For this year’s BE, the Department will no longer hold contests for Best Implementing School Awards, Hall of Fame Awards, and Brigada Plus at the national level to emphasize the true spirit of volunteerism. Schools, districts, and divisions may still give recognition to partners and stakeholders that participated in BE.
NATIONAL LEARNING CAMP
The Department of Education (DepEd) is set to roll out the National Learning Camp (NLC) during the 2022-2023 End-of-School Year (EOSY) break.
The NLC is a voluntary program that will start its phased implementation with Grades 7 and 8 focusing on English, Science, and Mathematics.
Schools may also conduct other EOSY break activities such as Reading and Mathematics Program for Grades 1 to 3 and enrichment activities in other grade levels alongside the phased implementation of the NLC to support learning recovery across grade levels.
Based on the specific needs of the learners, they shall be enrolled in one of three Camps: Enhancement Camp, Consolidation Camp, or Intervention Camp.
The NLC aims to create a camp-like atmosphere by integrating fun and engaging activities to foster learner interests, socio-emotional skills, personal growth, and character development.
Participation of teachers in the NLC is voluntary. Since the NLC entails the services of teachers beyond regular school days, they shall be provided with vacation service credits, certificate of recognition for teachers, and other incentives, subject to the availability of funds and guidelines set.
DepEd welcomes the support of internal and external stakeholders in ensuring the success of this year’s National Learning Camp
POSTER-MAKING CONTEST
The school conducted a school-based poster making contest last June 14, 2023. Ms. Cathy B. Tenorio won the first place. She compete in the district level and won First place again. When division level was held she got third place for this event. It is a justification that Tuy NHS students were all competent and talented.
BRIGADA PAGBASA 2023
The Brigada Pagbasa (BP) as a form of Brigada Eskwela is an after-school reading program in response to Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa or DepEd 3B Initiative issued under DM 173, s. 2019. All BE implementers are encouraged to conduct this partnership initiative for reading which serves as a platform to synergize education-related endeavors that immediately addresses literacy and numeracy learning gaps.
This reading advocacy serves as an avenue for all stakeholders to contribute possible solutions to improve the country’s education system, especially in equipping the learners with 21st century skills. With the successful nationwide implementation last school year, the Brigada Pagbasa shall continue with an aim to engage more education partners and experts to intensify this after-school reading program
This year’s division theme, "MATATAG na Puso at Diwa: Inklusibong Pagpapakatao, Determinadong Bayanihan, Positibong Kinabukasan" (Resilient Heart and Spirit: Inclusive Humanity, Determined Cooperation, Positive Future), reflects the MATATAG agenda of the Department of Education, which prioritizes the strengthening of core Filipino values—integrity, respect, and empathy—towards building an inclusive, determined, and optimistic future. As we celebrate Filipino Values Month, schools across the region are encouraged to participate by implementing activities that emphasize the importance of Filipino values.
Our school was visited by seminarist from the Archdiocese of Lipa. Love for God was strengthened and instill in the hearts and minds of our students. Lots of fun activities to foster cooperation and reminding that in the midst of disaster, God truly loves everyone of us. Because recently, our school was hit by Typhoon Kristine which brought lot of damage to our school property. Through this activity, the faith and hope arose once again.
