Taguig National High School is considered as one of the premier and oldest high schools in Taguig, home of Global City. Taguig City is situated at the northwestern shore of Laguna de Bay., right at the upper north of legendary Pasig River, north by the town of Pateros and Pasig on the East, by the towns of Tagaytay and Laguna Lake, on the South by the towns of Muntinlupa and on the West of by the towns of Paranaque, Makati and Pasay. It has a total land area of 4,538.20 Hectares or 45.3 sq kilometers and is composed of 8 barangays. Taguig National High School is found in Barangay Lower Bicutan, one of the barangays in Taguig.
It is formerly an agricultural town where most of the people are engaged in farming because it’s vast agricultural lands. From a former agricultural town, Taguig has become an area in Metro Manila where one can witness the booming economy as manifested by the establishments of industrial and commercial buildings in FTI Comple, Bagumbayan, Bicutan and highly modernized barangay inside Taguig - The Fort Bonifacio Global City. Every Taguigenos is looking forward to really boom in the future. As what people say, ANG TAGUIG AY MAGIGING BUKAMBIBIG SA BUONG DAIGDIG.” (Talk of the Town)
On January 8, 1980, Fort A. Bonifacio College Annex at Tenement building was converted to public high school proclaimed as Taguig National High School under a Memorandum of Agreement dated July 20, 1979 under the administration of Mayor Levi Mariano. Because of the fast growing population, the rooms to including the chapel was not enough, so additional classrooms were built at FTI Kadiwa Building.
In 1948, the school expanded its area of operation by opening an Annex at Ususan, Taguig. In the same year, Dr. Isabelita L. Montesa, principal, together with the PTA Officials worked for the transfer of the school, the former Institutions of Rehabilitation for Man (IRM) at Lower Bicutan. The land is 3,300 sq. meters with eighteen (18) buildings housing 79 classrooms, 2 laboratory rooms, 2 School Canteens, an AVR and 8 Faculty Rooms. The school ground is landscaped with trees, vegetables and ornamental plants. A covered court accommodates students having their P.E. Activities.
During the School Year 2001-2002, enrolment reached up to more than 6,000 with 164 faculty members. The next school year, new high schools propped up in the division and number of enrollees dropped gradually. At present, there are 2,200 enrollees in Taguig National High School.
Academically speaking, the school has come up with the dedicated mentors who have brought honor to the institution. They have produced winning candidates in different subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Araling Panlipunan, Journalism and Technology and Livelihood Education which excelled in the division and the school became center of training for culture and excellence from 1995-2002.
The school has prospered under the administration of energetic and talented principals and officers-in-charge.
