According to a very reliable source, long time ago, there was no school in this barrio. Children who wanted to study had to go to Subangdaku or Mandaue Elementary School.
They had to walk to school since there was no means of transportation available at that time. An informant said that this place was popularly known as "Karamuan" meaning place of the monkeys due to absence of a school. A very civic-spirited leader, by the name of Mr. Nicolas S. Retuya was challenged with this embarrassing remark and so he donated almost 500 sq. meter lot where a school building was built.
In the year 1969, Tipolo Elementary School was established with the late Mrs. Dolores Seno as school head. At first, it was just primary school as per information gathered. Later as the enrolment continued to increase it ultimately became a complete elementary school, with a certain Mr Graciano Hatamosa as the Principal. As records have shown, there were several administrators who were assigned in the school.
Data for school year 1969 to 1976 cannot be obtained. However, as shown in the school records the yearly enrolment has quite a significant increase from year to year.
During the administration of Mr. Rizal T. Nogra, the school acquired an additional school site of 5,614 square meters in 1992. A school gym was built with the help of former Congresswoman Nerissa Soon Ruiz, and two school buildings were also constructed which catered its growing school populace.
Through the years, the school has shown great improvements. Each classroom has adequate water supply, good ventilation and comfort room with the generosity of the Parents-Teachers Association. The teachers have continually maintained the classrooms to make it conducive for learning.
