BRIEF HISTORY
Tineg National High School, formerly Tineg Federated Barangays High School was founded in 1975 through the initiative of the people of Tineg with the efforts of school principals: Mr. Lelis B. Ferras, Sr., Mr. Elpidio Castañeda, then mayor Pedro Benwaren and assemblyman Jeremias Zapata.
It is situated in an approximately more than a hectare rolling land at the of a hill overlooking Tineg Central School. It strategically divides the households of Poblacion Agsimao, Hillside and Riverside in the north and Paranas of South Poblacion.
Students walk from the nine barangays to be able to reach the school. Farthest barangays Alaoa, Anayan, Apao and Caganayan take a whole daylight of hiking to reach the school. Naglibacan and the sitios of Mabalag, Makingag of Lanec, Talipugo, Sitio Serwaben of Cogon are good half day of hiking while Lanec Proper, Balantay-Lapat, Belaat and Cogon are good for two to four hiking hours and other remote Sitios will also take half day hiking.
Students also come from the barangays of the municipality of Lacub, particularly those of Lablabinag, Bacag and Lan-ag while still others come from provinces as far as Apayao and Nueva Era of Ilocos Norte.
