Tiabanan Valley Primary School was established in the year 1970 headed by Jose Vergara as the Teacher In-charge (TIC) under the schools division of Negros Oriental and is being regulated by the existing guidelines of the Basic Education Act of 2001 or also known as the RA 9155 of Governance of Basic Education Curriculum which was first implemented in SY 2002-2003. As the school population increases gradually, Tiabanan Valley Primary School was changed to Tiabanan Valley Elementary School in the year 2009. The school produced its first graduates on school year 2009-2010. During school year 2015-2016, the school was under direct supervision by the schools division of Bayawan City thru Mrs. Ofelia R. Hermosa, SDS.

The total land area of the school measures 10,000 sq. meters, the school acquired the property through the Deed of Donation, and was executed by the municipal mayor of Basay Hon. Beda L. Canamaque with the presence of the Schools Division superintendent, Mrs. Aleli R. Abne.

The school is accessible to all transportation, but four wheels and Utility Jeep can only transport in fine and good weather condition. Local motorized, commonly known Habal-Habal is the all-weather ride going to school, because it has rough road and a few cemented portion.

Presently, the school has been expanded to accommodate big number of pupils and to abolish the multi-grade or combination classes. The school has now 4 buildings with eight classroom. One classroom is being utilize as an Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory . The school has 6 regular teachers and is headed by Mr. Johnyrie B. Empeynado, Teacher-1, TIC.

The place got its name SANDIG from its original residents. Sandig means to lean your back on something. Considering the topography of the place, as mention high mountains serve as walls to them. Every people have to climb the mountain to look for food, hunt animals, and gather firewood. As they descend, they find it difficult to walk in trail position when the slope is vertical. They find it easy when their body is parallel to the mountain slope like leaning their back on it, thus the name Sandig.
