History of Tañong High School
Tañong High School is a general secondary school which was established in Marikina City. It is located in Barangay Tañong which has a land area of 5,000 square meters, situated at Lopez Jaena Street and acquired by way of donation.
The school was opened in June 1998 through Sangguniang Panglungsod Resolution No. 07 series of 1997 sponsored by Barangay Captain and ABC President Serafin “Bojie” Bernardino connecting Tañong Elementary School to Tañong High School.
It started with an enrolment of 480 students. Since there were no teachers to handle the classes, Marikina High School located at Concepcion, Marikina offered to adopt and make it an Annex thus 10 teachers were detailed in this school.
The opening of this school in barangay Tañong gave way to the aspirations of the parents and the community to have high school to accommodate the graduates of the nearby three elementary schools namely: Leodegario Elementary School, Barangka Elementary School, and Industrial Valley Elementary School.
In January 2001, Tañong Elementary School was completely phased out to give way to the construction of the 4-storey BF building. Meantime students occupied the two(2) old dilapidated building temporarily.
By the June 2001, the four-storey BF building was completed. In July, students started occupying the building.
In October 2001, then councilor Marcelino R. Teodorro sponsored Resolution No. 068 series of 2001 for the Tañong High School to be recognized as independent school. Thus, May 2002 the Sangguniang Panglungsod ng Marikina approved Resolution No. 066 series of 2002 as independent school.
