SECOND QUARTER LEARNING ACTION CELL
Amid the continuing challenges in education, Talisay Senior High School remains steadfast in addressing these issues—particularly the students’ lack of reading skills. This was the focus of the School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) conducted on September 4, 2025, led by Ma’am Juvie R. Cara as the key speaker.
The featured topic of the SLAC was “Bridging Reading Gaps through Various Reading Interventions,” which aims to address the widening gap in students’ reading proficiency.
During the session, she explained two projects that will serve as guides for teachers in developing students’ reading skills.
The first is Project BRIDGE (Bridging Reading Gaps as Initiatives to Develop Growth and Empower Reading Literacy), which focuses on addressing deficiencies in reading skills and supporting students in becoming independent readers.

Activities included simple yet meaningful exercises such as guided breathing, silent reflection, and self-awareness activities. These were designed to help teachers calm their minds and reflect on the things that cause them stress.
The activity aimed to emphasize the importance of caring for mental and emotional health, as well as recognizing one’s feelings and needs.
The session discussed the significance of being present in the moment, accepting one’s own feelings, and learning ways to handle stress in a calm and positive manner.
The SLAC was successfully carried out under the guidance of Sir John D. Agdan, Principal II, Dr. Lea H. Sangalang, Assistant Principal, with preparations led by Ma’am Vanessa P. Vasquez, L&D Coordinator, and Ma’am Michelle Manzano, Assistant Coordinator.
