Brief History of TIS
1950 marks the birth of Taguing Integrated School formerly known as Taguing Elementary School. This school springs on the Western part of Baggao and is basically located in Zone 2 Brgy. Taguing, Baggao, Cagayan. With its singular mission to lead the path towards academic excellence and sports development, TIS provides a learning environment by allowing the students learn and pursue their interests thus equipping them with the knowledge and necessary skills which set forth to experience quality education.
Having a total land area of 11, 201 and buildable space of more or less 5000 square meters, the structuring of the school was made possible with the lot donated by Mr. Simeon Gaspar and through the concerted effort of people known as Mr. Salus, Mr. Duru, and Mr. Sidro. There have been unprecedented dilemmas in its early years, thus the school only managed to accommodate learners from grades 1 to 4 having only 15 individuals as starters.
In each of the passing ages, the school has undergone significant changes with the undaunted leadership of several undocumented Teachers In- Charge. Mr. Jaime Tapulao, Mr. Ernesto Manding, Ms. Filomena B. Tumbiga, Mrs. Helena B. Florentino and Mrs. Leticia S. Andeng are among of the few who first served the flourishing school. With the influx of enrolment in the succeeding years, the school then has decided to cater additional grades of 5 and 6 thereafter.
It was 2006 when the school was fortunate to be supervised by Mr. Rachibald Romel D. Sena, a Principal. Through his genuine service and commitment, he managed to bring hope and was able to profess further ch anges in his time of incumbency. Having received with plaques of recognition in different contested categories, Taguing Elementary School then strives to become known and flourish.
Eight (8) years after and a woman of daring spirit took pride in being a leader, she is in the person of Mrs. Belinda Sorita,. Being a woman of vision, she brought significant contributions on the academic growth of the students and the school’s physical development. In the past decades, the school remained true to its goal of producing promising professionals with its welcoming, and nurturing learning environment.
The school’s transformation has been so abrupt in the subsequent years. Consequently, June 2018 dates a significant chapter of the school's history thus, a spark of change gleamed through the leadership of Mr. Remigio M. Marcos. With the end goal in mind to expand valuable services and to provide ample opportunities among its prospect clienteles from nearby schools like Bagunot ES, Bunugan ES, Carupian ES, Callao ES, and Ibulo Primary School, MR. REMIGIO M. MARCOS pursued the conversion of Taguing Elementary School to Taguing Integrated School. With the fact that the nearby school which is Baggao National High School, is located across the river and it is approximately 3 kilometers away from the feeder barangays, it is considered to be of risky on the part of the students especially in times of rainy season.
Through the harmonious effort of Mr. Gerald Cudal as PTA Pres., Mrs. Estrella D. Dimaya PhD., as District Supervisor, Mrs. Leila P. Areola PhD., CESO VI who was the Division Schools Superintendent, and in the unison of the Local Government Unit which was led by the former Mayor Leonardo C. Pattung M.D and Vice Mayor Johny Baccud, the virtue of Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 73 s. 2018 took its effect immediately.
As a head start, there were a total number of 43 grade 7 students, with 21 males and 22 females who paved the way to the attainment of the school's mission. Pioneered by only 5 LGU paid high school teachers in the name of Ms. Marjorie D. Orpilla, Ms. Rona Mae P. Orpilla, Ms. Marvie C. Naceno, Mrs. Roxanne F. Corpuz, and Ms. Emma Jane M. Fabros, the teaching of the 8 subject areas became one of a great challenge. Notwithstanding the extra hustle, the number of enrollees swelled, therefore additional building was erected to accommodate their number.
The opening of the Junior High School is considered to be of limelight in the history of TIS. This move is of big help to attain the goals and objectives of the government to eliminate drop out among the grade six completers from the feeder barangays and to ease the burden of the parents who are sending their children to private school which is more costly for them.
To date, TIS now has a total of 19 teaching staff, 11 from the Junior High (10 of which are LGU paid teachers, and 1 as permanent,) and 8 from the elementary. There are 295 enrollees from Kindergarten to Grade 9. True to its function as a learner- centered institution, it certainly looks forward to the completion of Junior high school as it welcomes Grade 10 students this school year 2021-2022.
Tested through the years, TAGUING INTEGRATED SCHOOL is continuously achieving noteworthy performance in the academics and sustaining its programs and projects effectively and is constantly expanding its coverage of catering basic education to a wider scope of clientele. Aside from the fact that the school offers a conducive learning environment, TIS also provides equal access to every learner regardless of economic status, gender, and religion with its aim to reach the learners’ fullest potential within a safe and welcoming environment making it a citadel of secondary institution.
