HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Tabuan is a barangay of Bayawan City situated at approximately 9.5194, 122.8452 in the island of Negros. It’s elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 119.6 meters or 392.4 feet above mean sea level. The place shares a common border with the following barangay(s): Ali-is, Bayawan, Banay-Banay, Kalumboyan,Villasol (Bato) and Narra Negros Oriental.
According to the 2020 Census, the population of barangay Tabuan was 4,539 which represented 3.70% of the total population of Bayawan. This figure denote a negative growth rate of 1.08% or a decrease of 241 people from the previous population of 4,780 in 2015.
According to the 2015 Census, the age group with the highest population in Tabuan is 5 to 9, with 650 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest population is 80 and over, with 34 individuals.
Tabuan Elementary School is a medium-sized institution founded in the year 1954 in the Division of Bayawan City. It is approximately 27 kilometers from the city proper. The school offers an education from kindergarten to Grade 6. It has 12 teachers and 1 non-teaching personnel and is currently managed by a head teacher.
While education is the primary focus, Tabuan Elementary School also strives to provide a wealth of opportunities for children to grow socially, emotionally, and physically through a variety of programs, resources, and experiences that help develop skills and values that prepare them for the future.
