STA. BARBARA HIGH SCHOOL - 305993

Sta Barbara High School is a community of learners and the newest school in Baliwag South District. It is located at Aldama St. Sta. Barbara, Baliwag, Bulacan and 2.6 km away from SM Baliwag and 2.4 km from town center based on Google Maps. It is a smallest secondary school in Baliwag City and currently offering grade seven (7) and grade eight (8) and soon to have grade nine (9) and ten (10) learners for we are expecting enrollees coming from the nearby baranggay of Tarcan, and Makinabang for the next school year

A ground-breaking ceremony of Sta Barbara High School was held last September 8, 2017, wherein one of the greatest dreams of Mayor Ferdie Estrella turned into reality and this was to establish an additional secondary school in Baliwag. He believed with the perennial statement of Dr. Jose P. Rizal that “Education is the most essential legacy that we can give to our children.”

Through the collaborative effort of the municipality of Baliwag, the Land Title Certificate with a lot area of 2,280 square meters was purchased and transferred to the Department of Education. Also, the memorandum of agreement was signed by Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella as representative and school Division Superintendent Romeo M. Slip, Ph.D,CESO V who represented the Department of Education (DepEd) and agreed that the Local Government Unit (LGU) shall provide funds for the operational maintenance including such basic facilities and utilities for at least five (5) years of its initial operation.

Apparently, based on the findings given by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office last January 31, 2017, it certified the school low susceptibility to flooding and not susceptible to rain-induced landslides, On the other hand, the school wherein the land is situated is accessible by tricycle from the national highway.

Despite that the school is under in a small category, it is very fortunate to have one (1) Officer In-charge, six (6) teachers, and 2 school utilities who are dedicated and compassionate to their profession. Additionally, the school is blessed by supportive and concerned stakeholders, LGU, and even higher political leaders in Bulacan who are willing to share responsibility and governance for the betterment of the learners.

Furthermore, most of the learners have different learning needs, so too will they come from various socioeconomic level or status (SES). A learners family’s socioeconomic level or status (SES) is typically categorized as middle and low and their parents are self employed and laborer. However, it is important for teachers to understand that a relationship exists between SES and educational outcomes of the learners.
