Lucena South II Elementary School is located at Capitol Homesite Subdivision, Barangay Cotta, Lucena City. It is found at the southern part in between the city’s two main rivers, Iyam river and Dumacaa River. It can be reached by a five-minute ride and twenty-five-minute walk from the city proper.
Lucena South II Elementary School was first house at the old Sacred Heart College Building in the city proper but it was gutted down by fire in 1964. In the same year, a new building was built known as Lucena East Elementary School this time in a new location at Capitol Homesite Subdivision, Barangay Cotta, Lucena City. The lot with a land area of 12,934 square meters was donated by Mr. Damaso Nicodemus owner of the said subdivision. Upon the creation of the Lucena South District, it was renamed as Lucena South II Elementary School. It is adjacent to Cotta National High School with only a fence dividing the two schools and just a stone throw from the Holy Rosary Catholic School.
Over the years, improvement was seen in the school. In 1964, the old buildings with sixteen (16) rooms constructed. Soon after the school began, word started to spread. In just few years, enrollment increased. Additional rooms had been made, a two - storey buildings, one Bagong Lipunan Building, one Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building and another one single unit building.
Though the school improvement, it was supported by the empowered principals throughout the years. Mr. Esteban Arenas, Mrs. Loreto Saddam, Mrs. Rosario Resuma, Mr. Jose Larracas, Miss Elisa Peras, Mrs. Melitona Aldovino, Mrs. Gloria David, Mr. Fernando Puri, Mrs. Azucena P. Adormeo, Mrs. Zenaida A. Jarasa, Mrs.Avelina A. Andres , Mrs. Rowena J. Adormeo played a vital role in the school management.
Another major influence on the development of the school recent years was the work and leadership of Mr. Ronnie J. Cada .who is the principal of this current year. His interest, enthusiasm, understanding, realism, and vision are vital forces in shaping the school into its present form.
At present, Mrs. Melanie L. Cabriga is the principal of this current year.
In year 2017, the next development of the school under his leadership was the reestablishment of three classrooms which will be used by the pupils of Kinder, Grade III and VI.
At the same time an environmental area was being developed. This has furthered enhance the school grounds as well as adding another dimension to children’s learning experiences. Presently, a crop museum, study area, handwashing area, additional comfort rooms, and improved gate had been constructed.
Throughout the continuous improvement, enrollment population increases and the school was given two additional teachers. In this way, Lucena South II Elementary School continually moving forward to help the pupils in giving quality education and conducive learning area that will develop all their attributes and skills to achieve their full potential.
