LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT (L&D)
This 3-DAY L & D SCHOOL-BASED TRAINING WORKSHOP ON UTILIZING EDUCATIONAL ICT APPLICATIONS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) TOOLS IN HARNESSING JHS/SHS TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESSES (TLPs) aims to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their teaching practices. Recognizing the transformative potential of technology in education, the Department of Education (DepEd) has emphasized the challenges in digital learning and education technology. The Digital Rise Program has three major components: Digital Literacy, ICT Assisted Teaching, and ICT Assisted Learning for learners. It aims to provide teachers and students with the necessary equipment, software, and skills to succeed in a digital learning environment. The DepEd Commons, Learning Resources Portal, and the DLMS are some platforms where learners and teachers can access DepEd content.
“We have come a long way, and we have learned a lot from the pandemic, but the greatest takeaway from this past year is that we have to be willing, flexible, and embrace technology.”
-Former DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones-
This workshop aligns with DepEd's vision of providing 21st-century skills to learners, including critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and digital citizenship. By familiarizing educators with AI tools, this training will empower them to enhance teaching and learning through personalized learning experiences, automate administrative tasks, foster creativity and innovation, improve accessibility for students with disabilities, and prepare students for the future job market.
The DepEd Computerization Program aims to provide public schools and DepEd offices with appropriate, quality, and equitable technologies that would enhance the teaching, learning, governance, and operation processes, practices, programs, and policies to meet the challenges of the modern age (DepEd Order No. 16 s. 2023).
UNESCO emphasizes the importance of cultivating ICT literacy among educators and learners. Educators need to acquire pedagogical expertise and technological proficiency to integrate ICT into instructional practices effectively. This entails professional development encompassing the utilization of educational software, online resources, and digital tools to create engaging and interactive learning experiences. Concerning learners, fostering ICT literacy involves cultivating critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through the strategic application of technology. UNESCO advocates for equitable access to technological resources, the systematic integration of technology-based learning activities within the curriculum, and the inculcation of responsible and ethical technology use among students. By prioritizing the development of ICT literacy among both educators and learners, we can empower them to thrive in the digital age and become successful global citizens.
This workshop will not only provide practical skills and knowledge in utilizing AI tools but also address the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in education, ensuring that AI is integrated into the educational process in a meaningful, ethical, and equitable manner.
