About DepEd Schools Division of Pampanga
The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Pampanga is a field office of the Department of Education (DepEd) Region III (Central Luzon) responsible for the supervision and management of basic education institutions within Pampanga province. The office oversees public and private elementary and secondary schools to ensure quality education aligned with national standards.
The division focuses on various programs including teacher empowerment, ICT literacy, school governance, and legal compliance. It regularly conducts trainings and seminars on academic recovery, leadership, and legal procedures to support educators and staff.

The Division of Pampanga under the Department of Education has a long history dating back to the early 1900s. Education in Pampanga started with the arrival of the Thomasites in 1903, establishing primary schools in towns like Betis, Guagua, and San Simon. By 1907, a Normal Institute was created in San Fernando to train teachers, followed by the establishment of San Fernando Primary and Intermediate School and Pampanga High School in 1908.

The Division Office was originally located at the Capitol Building until 1975, then moved beside Pampanga High School around 1976. Leadership transitioned from American superintendents to Kapampangan superintendents, with notable figures like Superintendent Adam C. Derkum in 1926 and the first Kapampangan superintendent named Mr. Demetrio.

In 1964, the Division of Angeles City was created, separating Angeles City from the Division of Pampanga. Later, the Division created city schools divisions for San Fernando (established in 2002) and Mabalacat City (established in 2012), marking further decentralization and specialization.

In the 1990s and 2000s, various superintendents introduced projects to improve education quality and services, such as the CLEAN and ATAD projects and the Happy School Movement. The Division has earned recognition for excellence and innovative programs throughout its history.
