Sampiro Integrated Senior High School recently marked the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution with a meaningful celebration, carrying the theme "EDSA People Power: Paggunita sa Nakaraan, Pagtindig para sa Katotohanan at Katarungan sa Kasalukuyan."
Through this commemoration, the school aimed to remind the younger generation of the values of truth and justice, and the ongoing struggle to uphold these ideals in today's society. Inspirational speeches, performances, and group discussions encouraged students to honor the past while standing firm for the principles of democracy, justice, and truth.
The essence of celebrating Filipino Values Month is to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage and moral values that define the Filipino identity. It serves as a reminder to honor the core values that guide Filipinos in their everyday lives, such as bayanihan (communal unity and cooperation), pakikipagkapwa-tao (respect for others), pagpapahalaga sa pamilya (family values), utang na loob (debt of gratitude), and malasakit (compassion).
By celebrating Filipino Values Month, individuals and communities are encouraged to reflect on the importance of these principles in fostering positive relationships, strong communities, and a sense of national pride. It also helps raise awareness about the need to nurture these values amid rapid societal changes, promoting unity, respect, and social harmony.
This celebration is crucial in ensuring that the next generation of Filipinos remains connected to their cultural roots, while also adapting to modern challenges with a strong moral foundation. Ultimately, Filipino Values Month is about reinforcing what it means to be Filipino and how these values contribute to the collective well-being of the nation.
