Sagad Elementary School is a dedicated institution committed to ensuring the successful execution of the K–12 curriculum, even in the face of challenges brought about by various factors such as the aftermath of the pandemic, insufficient classrooms, and constrained budgetary resources.
The school comprises three distinct buildings with varying numbers of classrooms: the Vicente P. Eusebio (VPE) Building, the Roman T. Romulo (RTR) Building, and the DepEd Nationally Funded Building. The VPE Building houses thirteen (13) classrooms, along with two service centers: the e-BEIS (enhanced Basic Education Information System) center/Guidance Office and the Computer Room, also used as regular classroom. The barangay has turned over the Roman T. Romulo Building from its second – fourth floor. The fourth floor serves as a classroom for one section in Grade Six. Four (4) rooms used as service centers such as Feeding and SBM on the second floor, Local Custodian Room, and Library on the third floor. The DepEd Building, characterized by its irregular shape, serves various functions across its floors. The first floor is designated as the school canteen, the second floor houses the principal’s office, and the third-floor functions as the school clinic. Additionally, the fourth and fifth floors are utilized as regular classrooms. Despite these allocations, there is a pressing need for augmentation, as the current seventeen (17) instructional rooms fall short of accommodating the thirty-three (33) organized classes. Addressing this discrepancy is crucial to ensure optimal learning spaces for our students.
Currently, Sagad Elementary School has proactively adopted a two-shift class system to effectively tackle the shortage of classrooms and limited space. In response to these constraints, our dedicated teachers at the school are maximizing their teaching time and optimizing the use of available classrooms to create an environment conducive to effective learning. It is noteworthy that each classroom is efficiently shared by two grade levels.
To facilitate the shifting sessions and optimize classroom sharing, the organizational layout is as follows within the VPE Building: Kindergarten occupies the first floor, while the second floor accommodates two sessions for Grade I and V. On the third floor, classrooms are designated for Grades II and Grade I, the fourth floor for Grades III and Grade V, and the fifth floor for Grades IV and VI.
During the morning shift, from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon, the learning sessions are attended by Grades III, IV, and I, along with their respective teachers. Subsequently, the afternoon shift, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, involves Grade II, V, and VI learners, accompanied by their teachers. This organized schedule ensures an efficient and structured learning environment for all students throughout the day.
Sagad Elementary School currently has thirty-three organized classes, ideally requiring thirty-three classrooms for a one-to-one ratio. The school boasts a dedicated team of thirty-three teachers distributed across different levels. Among them, there are three (3) Kindergarten Teachers overseeing six (6) organized classes. In Grade One, five (5) teachers manage an equivalent number of organized classes. Grade Two is supported by six (6) teachers for its six (6) organized classes. Moving to Grade Three, four (4) teachers are allocated for its four organized classes. Likewise, Grade Four has five (5) teachers for its four organized classes, and Grade Five is facilitated by five (5) teachers for its four organized classes. Lastly, Grade Six benefits from four (4) teachers assigned to its four organized classes.
Currently, the school anticipates the arrival of an additional teacher to be assigned to Grade Three, acting as a replacement for a retired teacher, to further enhance the educational experience and maintain an optimal teacher-to-student ratio.
As of the current School Year 2023-2024, Sagad Elementary School proudly reports a total enrollment of one thousand one hundred eighty (1180) students. This marks an encouraging growth of 13 learners compared to the preceding School Year 2022-2023, which recorded an enrollment of one thousand one hundred sixty-four (1167) students. The steady increase in enrollment reflects the school's commitment to providing quality education and fostering a positive learning environment for the community.
The school has witnessed a remarkable improvement in its dropout rate, declining from 4.2% (49 learners) in the school year 2021-2022 to an impressive zero dropout rate in the subsequent school year 2022-2023. This positive shift is attributed to the resumption of face-to-face learning, coupled with an emphasis on enhancing the quality of teaching. The return to traditional classroom settings and an elevated standard of instruction have evidently contributed to the significant reduction in dropout rates, reflecting the school's commitment to fostering a conducive and effective learning environment. The promotion rate is 103.28% and completion rate is 90.38% for School Year 2021-2022. It implies that the school can continue to develop its programs to maintain a 100% promotion rate among students.
Sagad Elementary School prioritizes Hygiene and Sanitation, ensuring a conducive environment for its students. The school is equipped with nine (9) handwashing areas and an equal number of comfort rooms, strategically located on the first, second, third, and fourth floors of the buildings to cater to the needs of both male and female students. Additionally, the school received a generous donation from the Manila Water Foundation, providing a handwashing facility equipped with ten (10) pedal faucets.
Despite facing challenges, Sagad Elementary School is fully committed to delivering quality education through various programs within a safe and secure learning environment. The school remains steadfast in its dedication to the well-being and education of its students.
