STA. ANA FISHERY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL has its beginning as a barangay high school formerly known as Sta. Ana Barangay Fishery High School which was established under Resolution No. 06 series of 1977 by the Municipal Government of Sta. Ana in conformity with the Barrio High School Act or Republic Act No. 6054. It was established July 17, 1977.
Its first location was within the auspices of Sta. Ana Central School. For the first school year, 1977-78, it had an enrolment of 39 males and 21 females or a total of 50 first year students with only 1 section and four teachers: Mrs. Clarita V. Avila, Mrs. Juana Agbayani, Mrs. Gasat O. Sumibcay and Mr. Rafael Avila - the four pioneer teachers. The direct supervision was given to Mrs. Vicenta Alcantara, the District Supervisor of Sta. Ana during that period.
By the school year 1980-1981, the school had already four year levels. Mr. Leandro Bacuyag, the principal of Camalaniugan High School was in charge of the supervision of Sta. Ana Barangay Fishery High School. In March of 1981, it had its first batch of graduates.
The following school year 1981-1982, Mr. Servando Manuela from Lal-lo, Cagayan took charge of the school and he became the first full time school head of the school till 1991.
Sta. Ana Barangay Fishery High School acquired its national status through Executive Order no. 189 signed on July 1, 1987 which raised all barangay high schools to national high schools. The school became a recipient of the Secondary Education Development Program (SEDP) Building Packages. The buildings were put up in the 10-hectare lot which was donated by the local government under the administration of Hon. Mayor Elpidio Tobias Sr. At first, it had only 4 buildings 1991, the year when Mr. Manuela was promoted as Principal I and was transferred to Pattao National High School. From 1991 to 1995, Mr. Rafael Avila Jr. took charge of the school.
In 1996, Mrs. Odilona C. Custodio took charge as a full-pledge Principal I of Sta. Ana Fishery National High School. During her term, the school was able to acquire additional buildings, new teacher items. She also worked on the reclassification of four teacher 1 positions to Master Teacher positions.
With the desire of the school to respond to the demands of economic enterprise and at the same time to produce quality graduates who can be productive even just after graduation from high school, the Technical - Vocational curriculum was implemented in the school in 2007 and the first graduates of the Strengthened Technical - Vocational Education Program – Competency – based Curriculum (STVEP – CBC) marched on stage on March 2011. The first batch of National Certificate (NC) II qualifiers who passed the National Competency Assessment administered by TESDA assessment centers were awarded with their certificates, March 2012. The school had become a Technical-Vocational High School.
June 1, 2012, a new school head assumed to lead the school. He is Dr. Francisco D. Addun. He came from Enrile Vocational High School, one of the technical – vocational schools in the Third Congressional District of Cagayan.
Mr. Addun served for a year but had worked for the permanent status of the teachers who had been under LGU items for a time. On July 1, 2013, Mrs. Evelyn P. Rapacon, was designated Officer-in-charge of the school by the Division Office of Cagayan. Mrs. Rapacon became full-pledge principal I on August 2014.
On September 8, 2017, as a result of the reshuffling of school heads, Mrs. Rita C. Corpuz, Ph.D. assumed as principal of the school followed by Mrs. Ma. Victoria F. Quiambao on November 13, 2020. She is currently the principal of the school
The present school population is now 1,981 including the senior high school with seventy-six school personnel.
