Rawis National High School starts in-person classes on Monday, August 2022 with almost 1900 enrollees for SY 2022-2023 following health and safety protocol.
Students and teachers arrive on campus as early as 6 a.m. for the first day of the faceto-face classes. The guard checks the temperature of the students and instructs them to disinfect with alcohol or do handwashing. Furthermore, wearing of facemasks and social distancing is also encouraged inside the campus.
Despite the changes, students have shown resilience in coping with the new system. “It’s been a bit overwhelming at first, but I’m just happy to be back in the classroom with my classmates and teachers.” said, Mary Jane, a high school student.
Some teachers have adapted to the new system, while a few expresses concern over the impact of prolonged online learning on students’ academic performance and social skills.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Maria Theresa Gacosta, head teacher and one of the in-charge of the enrollment said that there is a total of 1854 enlisted students - 279 from Grade 7, 315; Grade 8, 295; Grade 9, 333; Grade 10, 335; Grade 11, and 297; Grade 12 with an increase number of students in senior high.
“The opening of classes was a success.” Mrs. Marilyn Divina, the School Principal said. She added, they were continuously monitoring the situation and are ready to implement necessary interventions if needed.

Students of Rawis National High School (RNHS) enrolled in the Science, Technology and Mathematics (STE) Program show various skills in the celebration of the 2nd STE Month on November.
The month-long celebration engages the students in the different contests and activities. A session on Basic Photography is held at the SBM Hub with the invited professional photographer, Michael Fugnit developing creativity among students. This culminates in the Earth Photography competition capturing the natural scenery. Sciembulo is another contest on designing the logo of the STE Program. The winning design becomes the official logo of the program. Students from different grade levels participate in the Sciekwiz Challenge stimulating their scientific knowledge. Among other competitions are the ScieExpression Challenge, Stemtokperiment, ScieMazing Battle and ScieFomercial amplifying the participants’ creativeness and innovativeness. Search for Ginoo at Mutya ng Agham is one of the highlights of the activities.
Meanwhile , ScienTerrific Sessions, a webinar on Robotics and environmental concerns provides valuable insights to the participants. Aldwin T. Almo, Senior Science Research Specialist Uiversity of the philippines led the informative sessions. Lakbay Agham, an educational benchmarking activity in Sorsogon City broaden the students’ perspectives. This highlights the celebration of the STE Month.

Alinsunod sa programa ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, inilunsad ng Pambansang Mataas na Paaralan ng Rawis ang Brigada Eswela noong Hulyo 1, 2021.
Iba’t ibang aktibidad ang isinasagawa sa pamumuno ng punong guro na si Gng. Marilyn B. Divina at Brigada Eskwela Coordinator na si G. Franklyn Vargas. Kabilang dito ang: Campus clean up, Virtual Concert, Let a million flowers bloom at Adopt a plant.
“Nakatutulong ito sa akin at sa ibang magulang upang manatili ang kalinisan ng paaralan para makapag-aral nang mabuti at madisiplina ang aking anak.”saad ni G. Reynaldo Deniega.Nakiisa ang mga estudyante sa isinagawang aktibidad sa pag-lilinis sa labas at loob ng paaralan.
Ayon kay G. Franklyn, nahikayat ang mga stakeholders na makiisa sa mga akstibidad, dahil dito, nagging physically ready ang paaralan at mga silid-aralan para sa muling pagbubukas ng klase.
Nagtagal ang programang ito simula Hulyo 1 hanggang Setyembre 3,2021 na may temang ”Brigada Eskwela:Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-aral.” (ni: Angela Taburnal)
Saktong 1,214 na mga mag-aaral ng mataas na paaralan ng Rawis ang nakatanggap ng biyaya ng programang Yes! to children’s Assistance Program(YCAP) na ipinatupad ni Mayor Ester Hamor sa lahat ng paaralan ng lungsod ng Sorsogon noong Enero 24,2023.
Kabilang ang school bags, school supplies, rain coats, T.V., at uniporme na natanggap sa pamamahagi ng YCAP sa mga Rawisenyo. Dagdag pa rito, buwan-buwang nakatatanggap ng tinapay ang mga mag-aaral na walang baon.
Ang mga kagamitan na ito ay makatutulong upang mapagpatuloy nila ang kanilang mga pag-aaral at magkaroon ng lakas ng loob na matuto sa gitna ng pandemya.
Ayon kay Dominic Divina, mag-aaral ng RNHS, maganda ang naging epekto nito sa mga mag aaral hindi lang dahil may mga bagong kagamitan, na engganyo rin ang mga bata sa pag pasok ng paaralan.
Malaki naman ang pasasalamat ng punong guro na si Gng. Marilyn B. Divina sa pagsuporta ng LGU Sorsogon City at Hon. Ester Hamor sa edukasyon ng mga mag-aaral na Sorsoganon.
Ang programang ito ay bahagi ng 10-Point Agenda ni City Mayor Ester Hamor na ang pangunahing layunin ay ang pagbibigay ng asistensiya sa mga kabataan, upang ang mga ito ay mahimok na magpatuloy sa kanilang pag-aaral. (ni: Angela Taburnal)
