The Efficacy of Teacher-Made Contextualized Fitness Card Assessment in Teaching Health Optimizing Physical Education in the New Normal

ABSTRACT
The main purpose of the study was to improve the performance of low performing students in Health Optimizing Physical Education for the first quarter of the school year 2020-2021 through a Self-Learning Module. Thus, the researcher developed a SLMs for Learning Competency PEH12FH-Ig-i6: Traditional dance/Folk, PE12FH-Ii-7: Ethnic Dance, PEH12FH-Ik-t9: Ballroom/ Recreational Competitive Dance, PEH12FH-Iat-8: and Cheer dance. This study sought to answer the following questions: (1) What is the level of performance of students in Health Optimizing Physical Education before and after the utilization of TeacherMade Contextualized Fitness Card Assessment? (2) What learning material can be made to address the low performance of the learners? (3) Is there a significant difference in the level of performance of Senior High School students before and after the utilization of the Teacher Made-Contextualized Fitness Card Assessment?
In this study, purposive sampling technique was used in choosing the participants. This also employed a researcher-made SLMs which was validated by the Butuan City Division MAPEH Education Program Supervisor, the Asst. Principal, a Master Teacher of Mapeh Department, an English Teachers of Butuan City School of Arts and Trades and the District Research Coordinator using the validation tool on SLMs with an evaluation rating scale in numerical rating and descriptive rating in five-point range. Moreover, a pretest and posttest 3 were administered to the low performing students.
In this study, purposive sampling technique was used in choosing the participants. The study showed that Self Learning Module (SLMs) evaluation scale in numerical rating and descriptive rating in five-point range. Moreover, a pretest and posttest were administered to the low performing students. The result of the study showed that the developed Self-Learning Module were found effective as there was an increase in scores of the students after the use of the SLMs. There was also a statistically significant difference between the two assessments. Therefore, this study suggests that the developed SLMs can be a useful tool in remediating students who performed low in this particular competency.
