Effectiveness of BCSAT – School Disaster Risk Reduction Office Management

in Capacitating School Personnel for Disaster’s Preparedness

ABSTRACT

This study attempted to determine the Effectiveness of BCSAT – School Disaster Risk Reduction Office Management in Capacitating School Personnel for Disaster’s Preparedness for the school year 2019 – 2020. The participants include selected five (5) department heads and fifteen (15) teachers of Butuan City School of Arts and Trades. The results of the 1^st Assessment and 2^nd Assessment conducted by the selected department heads and teachers were used in determining the Mean-Percentage Scores (MPS). The MPS of each learning competency was computed, analyzed, and interpreted based on the Likert Scale. The researcher employed paired-sampled t-test in determining the significant difference between the two assessments.

Based on the results the findings are as follows, assessment of department heads and teachers on the first assessment as to the level of effectiveness is satisfactory which is 78.6% while on the second assessment is very satisfactory which is 87.4%. There is a significant difference in the first assessment and second assessment results since the calculated t-value (11.4165) is greater than p- value (0.0017), the null hypothesis is rejected. Based on the mean difference of the two assessments which is 8.8, we can conclude that the personnel and learners were found to have improved in their level of effectiveness as a result of providing capacity building activities on DRRM.

From the findings and conclusions of the study, the following recommendations are offered: professional training is a strategic action for the growth of the organization that occur foremost in the personnel. Through a well-managed professional training and with dedicated and committed experts then organization ensures the upgrade and preparation needed for success.
