Cultivating Holistic Learners for Better Future Thru Project RAISE (Reflect, Align, Innovate, Support and Empower)
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a global evaluation conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that measures the knowledge and skills of 15-year-old students in three key areas: Reading, Mathematics, and Science. Administered every three years, PISA focuses on assessing students’ ability to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, preparing them for lifelong learning and active participation in a global society.
PISA provides critical insights into the effectiveness of educational systems worldwide by benchmarking student performance on an international scale. Its results highlight strengths and areas for improvement, enabling schools, educators, and governments to shape policies and programs that foster better learning outcomes.
The Philippines' results in the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) highlighted ongoing challenges in the education system. Filipino students' performance remained among the lowest globally in reading, mathematics, and science. Only 16% achieved Level 2 proficiency in math, far below the OECD average of 69%. Similar trends were observed in reading and science, where fewer than 25% of students reached basic proficiency.
These results highlight the need for targeted interventions, better resource allocation, and curriculum improvements to uplift education standards and student outcomes
At Pattao National High School-Maddalero Extension, we recognize the transformative potential of PISA to cultivate holistic learners equipped for the challenges of the 21st century. In line with this vision, we have launched Project RAISE (Reflect, Align, Innovate, Support, and Empower) to prepare our students and educators for PISA 2025.
Through Project RAISE, we:
Reflect: Assess and analyze current teaching practices and student performance to identify areas for growth.
Align: Tailor our curriculum to meet PISA’s global standards in Reading, Mathematics, and Science.
Innovate: Integrate new teaching methods, technology, and real-world applications to enhance learning outcomes.
Support: Provide targeted training for teachers and learning resources for students to build core competencies.
Empower: Foster a collaborative learning environment that equips students with critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
By combining a clear focus on excellence with community-wide engagement, Project RAISE ensures that our students are not just academically prepared but also capable of thriving in a rapidly changing world.
