The long awaited dream of the people of Pililla came into reality in the year 1997, when the establishment of Pililla National High School was approved.
Through the initiative of Mrs. Rodina R. Espiritu, District Supervisor of Pililla-Jalajala, with the full support of late Pililla Municipal Mayor Hon. Nicomedes F. Patenia and Sangguniang Bayan members, Pililla National High School as a secondary education institution has granted a permit to operate on July 1, 1997. Prior to this, the momentous signing of Mr. Ricardo Gloria, Secretary of Education, on the establishment of the said institution was held during the inaugural blessing of Ynares I building at Pililla Elementary School- Central in Pililla, Rizal on July 2, 1997.
Housed temporarily at the old municipal building of Pililla in the vicinity of Barangay Imatong, Pililla, Rizal the school with an initial enrolment of 101 students started, using three classrooms purposely repaired to serve as essential foundation for teaching and development. Mrs. Rodina R. Espiritu then, assumed the post of being the first Officer-in-Charge of the school, with five teachers to instruct, of which four were funded by the municipality of Pililla, and one by the provincial government of Rizal. They are Mrs. Marlene C. Omaña, Mrs. Lorna B. Raguro, Mrs. Isabelita S. Austria, Mrs. Dina DC. Pantuan and Mr. Antonio V. Tongohan.
Pililla National High School’s first batch of first year students was all Pililla resident though some are not native of the town. From these numbers, ninety percent (90%) came from the less fortunate families but it was through them also that the school derived its inspiration to move ahead and fulfill it’s role in eradicating illiteracy in the community.
In the year 1999, Mrs Marlene C. Omaña who assumed the post of being Pililla National High School First Teacher-In-Charge replaced Mrs. Rodina R. Espiritu. During her term, enrollees have increased in such number that the school could not almost accommodate. The numbers of Teachers hired have also increased significantly. As the old building was designed for office and not for classroom, an increase in the number of enrollees would mean crowding the entire building. This assessment opted the administration to consider relocating the school site to Barangay Hulo, where a space owned by LGS consisting of multiple rooms which was vacated by Pililla Marine & Techno Vocational Institute (PMTVI), its previous occupant. There and then additional makeshift building were provided to accommodate the increasing number of students, while construction of Pililla National High School building was on going in Barangay Bagumbayan. In this transition period, Mrs. Omaña’s leadership to instill unity, discipline and good human inter-personal relationship among teachers and students overcame all the inconveniences and difficulties surrounding the school environment.
Finally before the end of September 2001, the new and permanent school site in Barangay Bagumbayan was realized.. A two-Storey Ynares type school building I with eight rooms was constructed in a lot donated by Mr. Jaime L. Melendres with Tax Declaration Number ARPO No. P-001-1684 (Filed under Presidential Decree No. 464). The said lot prior to schools’ transfer of site already had a covered Basketball court constructed originally for the people of Barangay Bagumbayan under the administration of Honorable Mayor Nicomedes F. Patenia, but was later donated for school’s permanent use.
Another Two-Storey Ynares school bulding (Building-2), was constructed last July 24, 2002 but this time under the administration of Ms. Vivian G. Castro, who was then assigned to replace Mrs. Marlene C. Omaña as the First legitimate School Principal, as a result of reshuffle of Administration in the Division of Rizal. Such transfer was based from the recommendation submitted by the Division Office to the Regional Office under then Regional Director Paraluman R. Giron.
Due to illness, which prompted Ms.Castro to work on leave, Mr. Roger Bodegon was appointed as Officer in Charge of the school. Mr. Bodegon being both a teacher and head of research Science Investigatory Projects) continued the programs started by Ms. Castro, While in charge, he was responsible for the improvement of computer rooms, fabrication of more cabinets, computer tables and additional metal enclosures.
On June 17, 2004, Mr. Virgilio P. Ramos assumed the post left by Ms. Vivian Castro. During his administration when the construction of Ynares III Building was almost completed, both the computer room and faculty room were transferred to its new location. Installation of lavatory and rest room were made for faculty use.
Mr. Ramos became instrumental in both the opening and successful outcome of Accreditation & Equivalency (Non-formal Education) Program designed for Out-of-School youth and drop-out students, as he designated the Chairman of H.E. Department Mrs. Gemma Ilocso, to become the Instructional Manager for the program. School performance in terms of DAT results shows continuous improvement for the past four years. However, there should be continuous monitoring for the activities and programs in order to achieved the minimum required performance among the students of 75% MPS.
In June 1, 2011, Mr. Celestino A. Santiago took over the leadership as the new principal of the school. With his administration, he focuses on how to manage the school, the teachers, students and parents. In his legacy the school purchase a paging system so information dissemination is much more efficient. Also the construction of fence around the covered court was done in order to maximize discipline when there is school program. Sir Santiago continues to improve school grounds and re-established talks on how to acquire additional lot for the construction of another school building. He continues to upgrade teacher’s potential and student’s achievement. Although his leadership has been cut short by a sudden change of leadership in selected school, it can be noted that the year stay in Pililla National High School has been fruitful.
In June 12, 2012, Mr. Ronaldo C. Rio Assumes office as the new principal of Pililla National High School. With his leadership he continue legacy of the school by improving the environment through different projects like painting of murals in each side of the school premises. Creating the Vivian Castro garden tribute to the late former principal of the school.
