Arangkada Pattao National High School!
Man Is meant to live in society where society demands necessary citizenship skills to make them useful and productive participants in the development of their respective societies or communities.
Former Education Secretary, Jeslie Lapuz aptly said “Edukasyon ang Solusyon”. This points to the needs for education of man to meet head head on whatever societal problems there maybe. Hence, education as ever conceived, remains the most vital and essential concern of man and society.
It must be in this light and concern that earlier barangay officials of Pattao, Buguey, Cagayan, headed by the late barangay captain, Estanislao Molina; the first PTA President, Alejandro Serrano, and the late Pattao Elementary School Principal, Mr. Estelito Bello, accepting to house the pioneer freshman and sophomore students in the Pattao Elementary School now Buguey South Central School, collaborated to propose for the establishment of a Pattao Barrio High School and thru the able leadership of the Mayor Licerio Antiporda Jr., the Camalaniugan National High School, thru its late secondary school principal, Mr. Leonardo Bacuyag, worked for its creation as an annex of Camalaniugan National High School.
The former Pattao Barrio High School had 34 freshmen and 59 sophomores during its maiden year of operation. Its first teachers were Mrs. Consolacion del Castillo, Miss Elizabeth Goze and the late Mrs. Pacita Andres, whose honoraria were drawn from the local government unit. Some Elementary School served as part-time teachers.
Its first commencement exercises took place in March, 1965, graduating 29 boys and 30 girls.
In 1979, the PTCA, barangay council of Pattao chaired by the late Brgy. Capt. Estanislao Molina and the late secondary school principal I, Mr. Bernabe Enriquez, purchased a new school lot with a land area OF 27,769 square meters where the present buildings stand today. Its roster of administrators or Principals includes;

In school year 1995, an annex of Pattao National High School was opened at barangay Centro, Buguey, Cagayan aimed to cater to education needs of the 13 coastal barangays of the town. Its first officer-in-charge and also its first principal, when the annex was weaned from the mother school in 2000 is Mrs. Elina S. Taloza.
In 2003, the PTA, Administration and the faculty started to construct a school gymnasium with the contributions from parents and teachers and a donation from an alumnus (Mr. Claudio Iñigo). Only the 12 concrete posts stood by that time but its completion was thru the generosity of Engr. Danilo D. Tamayo, another alumnus. Also, thru the Andres P. Tamayo Sr. Foundation, Inc., a scholarship grant for 200 students for school year 2011 – 2012 worth P90,000.00 was given the school.
Presently, the Pattao National High School is equipped with personal computers awarded by the Department of Trade and Industry as well as the Andres P. Tamayo Sr. Foundation, Inc. Athletic and sports equipment as well as books, LCD’s and PC’s were also donated by the same faoundation (APTSF, Inc.)
In November 2012, the APTSF, Inc. thru its DDT Konstract, Inc., its construction arm, started to build a P14-M 2 storey, 6-room building that will be fully equipped with the latest technology and amenities for instruction and administration. It rises at the southern site of the campus of the school. Engineer Danilo D. Tamayo is the chairman and executive officer of the DDT and APTSF, Inc.
At present, the Pattao National High School including its Maddalero annex has 25 teachers, broken down as follows: 1 principal, 5 master teachers, and 19 teachers. There are in addition, 6 LGU-SEF teachers all assigned at the Maddalero annex headed by a Secondary School Teacher III as OIC.
Its non-teaching personnel includes a bookkeeper, a disbursing officer and a security guard.
Its operation and management is largely dependent on allocations from the monthly operating and other expenses from the national government. Some other funds come from the PTA, School Governing Council, Student government, other school clubs and organizations and from donations from civic-spirited donors and alumni of the school.
