HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
PAGATBAN HIGH SCHOOL was established through the efforts of Corazon D. Cadalso with the assistance of Barangay Officials and local government representatives of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. It was founded in June 2010 and began its operations as an annex of Bayawan National High School. Mrs. Cadalso supervised the 34 first year students. In August 2010, Mrs. Annaluz Macabuingil was assigned to Pagatban High School and took on the duties of an advisor and a subject teacher. With operations running smoothinly, two teachers were added to manage and handle the first and second year students in August 2011.
November 21, 2011 marked a historical change for Pagatban High School. Regional Director Dr. Recaredo G. Borgonia gave his approval for the opening of Pagatban High School. The institution then with its approximately 10,000 square meters and accessible location, just 8 kilometers away from the city's center, was now ready for further development to serve more students in the area.
On December 19, 2012, the new 2CL building constructed by the City is finally turned over to Pagatban High School. Dr. Carmelita Dulangon, Regional Director of Region VII, Central Visayas, authorized the request for separation from the mother school in 2013. In August 24, 2013 the 3CL Building funded by PDAF of Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano was turned over, catering students for better and effective learning environment. At present, PHS has 259 students with 2 storey 3 CL, 2 3CL Building, 3 2CL Building and 1 TVL Laboratory, 11 teachers, 1 head teacher, and 1 administrative assistant.
