SCHOOL BACKGROUND

School History

Bais City High School-Okiot Annex was one of the extension High Schools of Bais City High School. It is 4.5 kilometers away from the city. It can be reached by any means of land transportation.

From July 23, 2001 up to May,2010 our school is named Bais City High School Okiot Annex. It was last June 15, 2010 when the name of the school was changed to Okiot National High School based from the City resolution of Bais and it was approved by the Central Office. And up to present the school has a name, Okiot National High School of barangay Okiot, Bais City, Division of bais City, Negros Oriental, Philippines with a School ID of 323008.

At present, the school operates with a school head as the school manager, 16 teachers and 1 non-teaching personnel, partially providing the needed facilities, instruction and materials that help address learner’s needs. Although, each class has its own classroom with built in comfort room for the learners’ comfort and convenience, it does not mean that we could already deliver quality teaching for there are still factors that needs to be develop in the part of the teachers and the part of the students.

As observed, students only study their lessons during examination day and low performing students incurred greater days of absences than those who are average performing which greatly affects the school’s performance at school level. Some of the parents in the locality are working and some students are living with relatives and therefore could not help their children with their school works at home.

The school have mechanisms to promote safe and protective practices based on DepED's Policy on Child Protection in School. Implementation of Child Protection Policy through advocacy/information dissemination. Bringing better quality teaching methods could not be done by the teachers alone. There must be collaborative efforts in all the stakeholders in this field of endeavor.
