MTVHS:
SCHOOL OF HOPE

History and Background of the School

Mabalacat Technical High School was established in 2003, this was the collaborative efforts of Hon. Marino Morales, Mrs. Carmelita P. Sotto (the District Supervisor of Mabalacat South), Punong Barangay Marcos Y. Caligagan, and Dr. Leonardo C. Canlas (the first principal). The school's primary goal was to empower the indigenous community residing in Macapagal Village, as well as nearby communities such as Marcos Village, Calumpang, Sacobia, San Vicente, and San Martin. Through this initiative, these individuals were provided with essential skills to enhance their competitiveness and productivity, enabling them to improve their quality of life.

With an initial enrollment of merely 38 students, Mabalacat Technical High School commenced its journey, comprised of both indigenous youth and children of Mt. Pinatubo eruption survivors. The school faced a challenge of finding a suitable location for the students and its five teachers, three of whom were visiting from Mauaque High School and supported by the Mabalacat Local School Board. Eventually, they improvised their first classrooms within the barangay chapel, using church pews as makeshift desks. Mrs. Marilou T. Caligagan and Mrs. Jane N. Gonzales were the pioneering teachers who embarked on this educational endeavor at MTHS.

Within a span of three years, Mabalacat Technical High School experienced a remarkable surge in enrollment, necessitating the construction of additional classrooms to accommodate the growing number of students. Under the guidance of Dr. Leonardo C. Canlas, the school made significant strides, achieving notable improvements both in its physical infrastructure and academic performance.

In line with the school's vision, Mabalacat Technical Vocational School, known as the "School of Hope," excelled in lifelong learning skills, securing victories in division and regional competitions, and effectively sustaining its programs and projects. Through the combined dedication of stakeholders and the school administration, a new relocation site at old Macapagal Village was secured, providing ample space to cater to the increasing number of Junior and Senior High School enrollees. This relocation represents a positive step towards further progress and success for the institution.

Moreover, Mabalacat Technical Vocational School has made significant strides in its physical achievements at its new site, which has been fully operational since June 2019. The school caters to indigenous and indigent students, and it has experienced a notable increase in enrollees for the School Year 2022-2023. The Department of Education (DepEd) generously donated a 4-storey building to the school, which has been efficiently utilized to accommodate various facilities.

Within the 4-storey building, there are now 12 instructional rooms, including dedicated spaces for Garments, Computer, Electronics, and Food Trades courses. Additionally, the building houses a school canteen, faculty room, sewing room, and administration room. Moreover, four extra rooms adjacent to the Senior High School buildings are being utilized by students specializing in EIM, ICT, and Food Trades Majors, while one room is occupied by LRMDS and SBM.

To enhance the teaching capabilities, teachers have received intensified training not only in academics but also in TESDA Based Courses, leading to National Certificate Level II and TM I certifications. The Junior High School offers majors in ICT, Food Trades, Garments, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance, aligning the curriculum with the needs of industries located in Clark. This focus on relevant skills aims to prepare students to become highly competent and productive citizens in the real world.

The school is optimistic that by equipping students with vocational and technical skills, their living conditions will improve, and they will be empowered to use their creativity effectively. The ultimate goal is to enable the students to achieve their potential and become valuable contributors to their communities, in line with the school's mission and vision.

Currently, the school is headed by Mr. Francisco A. Samonte Jr. who envisions the institution to become a safe and student-centered technical-vocational school. More improvements are expected to be undertaken through collaboration, teamwork and passion of all stakeholders towards quality education.
