Out of the love for education for the people of Tanay, the Sangguniang Bayan of Tanay under the leadership of Mayor Tomas Ricardo A. Tanjuatco and the DepEd District Supervisor of Tanay I headed by Mr. Alberto SJ. Delos Santos and Mr. Morado B. Digma , Principal of Tanay National High School (TNHS), MARCIANA P. CATOLOS MEMORIAL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL was established on September 1, 2006.

The school occupies the five hundred twenty-three (523) square meter area of the Marciana P. Catolos Memorial Elementary School (MPCMES), which was founded sometime in 1958. Its name was derived in memory of Dona Marciana P. Catolos, the first woman to become councilor and First Female Mayor of Tanay popularly known as Tiya Anang by the town people of Tanay.

This school was created under the supervision of Patricio Jarin Memorial Elementary School (PJMES) and became an annex school. In 1991, the Tanay Municipal High School was temporarily housed here until it was transferred to a new site and became Tanay National High School.
