Barangay and School History
There are two existing stories how the Island of Masile came up to what it has really originated. Two among the seinor citizens of the barangay shared the story they just actually received from their ancestors. One among the two is Felino Manalaysay, 87 years of age. According to Mang Felino, during the Spanish era, Brgy. Masile was then a “sasahan” (palm tree farm). A family named Trillana, who are natives of H
agonoy, Bulacan, escaped from the tyranny of the Spanish rule and hid themselves within the sasahan. The Spaniards were not able to find them and left the place. The Trillanas spent the rest of their lives in this small island and established a small community. The name M\asile is not clear to him how the place had the name.
The second person is Rodolfo Pascual, 75 years old. According to him, there are two friends , not sure if they are the Trillanas, who were just roaming around the area using a small boat, when they reached this small island where they saw something that caught their attention. In the middle of the Island, they saw these trees bearing small, red, pointed fruits which in their curiosity tasted and they discovered the hot, smoking chilly taste that made them more lively. Where they had the name Masile, no one can really tell.
Masile Elementary School is geographically situated at the heart of the island. It was initially established in 1950 as a government primary school. The only record management found at this point in time is when the school was headed by Matilde F. Encarnacion from 1986 – 1989. It started to offer complete elementary education curriculum in 1989 to cater the increasing number of pupils in the community.
At present, it is already in complete basic education from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and actively participating in various projects, programs, activities and competitions of the Department of education (DepEd) from district, division, regional and soon even in National level with the help of our Local Government Unit (LGU), Barangay Officials and local community stakeholders.
At present, the school is manned with seven (7) teachers and a school head from Ligas, City of Malolos, Bulacan. Four (4) are residents of Masile, three (3) teachers are from Mambog, Panasahan and Babatnin. Physical facilities are maintained regularly to provide the needs of the learners and teachers.
