A. SCHOOL PROFILE
Malandog Elementary School is on its 66th year of being a complete elementary school. The school is composed of three sections in every grade level however when schools were created in every barangay fifteen years ago enrolment decreased considerably. For SY 2015-2016, it has a population of three hundred seventy-eight (378) pupils. There are fourteen (14) teachers serving these pupils. The school is managed by a principal.
The school has an area of nine thousand one hundred thirty- three square meters (.9133HA). It is comprised of one unit HEIA Bldg. which is below the planning standard, 1-Unit 3 CL Marcos Type Bldg. repaired in October 2013 with one partition utilized by three classes; last March 2014 one partition for said building was constructed through the MOOE, 1 – Unit 1CL SBRMS Bldg. which is below planning standard, 1-unit 2 CL BL Bldg.,1-unit 3 CL BL Bldg., 1 unit Shop Bldg. demolished in February 2014, 1-unit 3CL Laguna Type Bldg. demolished last February 2016 , detached two units 2-seat CRs all of which are below planning standard. There is on-going construction of a 2 storey 6 CL funded by PAGCOR. Construction of said building started last February 2016. The school has a playground apparatus, a covered covered gym and one (1) study shed. There are two jetmatic pumps and one electric water pump.
Teachers had been exerting their efforts to improve pupil performance in the NAT but despite of that MPS is 17.77% below the planning standard of 75% MPS.
The special programs being implemented in the school are Remedial Reading Classes undertaken every MTW, DEAR Program every Th &F. Both programs use the same time slot at 12:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon. Math HATAW is performed daily after the flag raising ceremony. Text to Teach (T2T) is used in teaching English, Mathematics and Science subjects for grades five and six classes only. Deped Computerization Program (DCP) is availed by students in the intermediate grades. Supplementary feeding is provided by the parents daily. Sixty seven (67) W and SW students are recipients of School Based Feeding Program (SBFP).
The school has an alumni association whose members meet annually to support the needs of the school. Capt. Vicente E. Fedelicio, an alumnus donated four units of computer. The association is responsible for financing the installation of internet and providing monobloc chairs for the e-classroom.
The Parents Teachers Association’s involvement in the school projects like Brigada Eskwela and other monthly activities is satisfactory. The officers proposed another one (1) study shed.
The Barangay Council collaborates with the school on its utilization of the school premises as venue for community based activities including non-DepEd related programs.
B. COMMUNITY PROFILE
Barangay Malandog is known as the first Malayan Settlement in the country, one of the forty-seven barangays in the Municipality of Hamtic situated in a coastal lowland with an area of one hundred twelve thousand eight hundred sixty-six (112 866) hectares. It is three (3) kilometers away from Hamtic proper and four (4) kilometers away from the capital town of San Jose.
The latest survey of the barangay population shows that the total population is composed of one thousand nine hundred fifty-seven (1,957) of which nine hundred seventy-six (976) are males and nine hundred eighty-one (981) females. It has four hundred twenty-one (421) households.
Farming is one of the main occupations of the residents second to fishing. Other incomes are derived from bangus fry concessions and distribution and small scale business.
It has a historical landmark where one of the highlights of the Binirayan Festival is held. The system of communication is fast due to accessibility to cell sites from Smart and Globe.
