Establish foundational data before instruction begins.
Gather Beginning-of-School-Year (BOSY) Data: Secure results from the Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment (CRLA) and Rapid Mathematics Assessment (RMA) to identify gaps in foundational skills
Identify At-Risk Learners: Tag learners who may need Flexible Learning Program (FLP) accommodations, such as those with health conditions, working learners, or those in remote areas
Capability Mapping: Collect data on learners' access to digital devices and internet connectivity to inform the school’s emergency planning
Transition to the new, flexible lesson planning framework focused on professional judgment.
Review the Three-Term Budget of Work (BoW): Align your sequence of competencies with the recommended number of weeks provided in the BoW.
Draft your Initial Lesson Plans: Use the new, flexible template that prioritizes Learning Design Principles over rigid compliance. Ensure formative assessment is embedded.
Prepare Alternative Resources: Identify and prepare resources (print or digital) for use at home in case in-person classes move to a Hinay (Ease-in) or Hinga (check-in) level due to emergencies
Plan for KS1 Assessment Centers: For Kindergarten to Grade 3, design Integrated Performance Tasks and rubrics instead of formal paper-and-pencil tests
Categorize AI Use in Tasks: For every assessment, explicitly declare the AI Use Category (Prohibited, Limited, or Extensive) for learners
Design Integrative Performance Tasks: Plan at least one Integrative PT that allows a single output to be assessed across multiple learning areas to reduce learner overload
These serve as our shared guide to good teaching. Our policies in lesson planning, assessment, education in emergencies, and educational technology are all anchored in these. Even if we have different classrooms and schools, these are our shared goals.
Align instruction with the Three-Term School Calendar using the Three-Term Budget of Work for Learning Competencies for each Learning Area and Grade Level.
Design learning experiences using our simplified Intentions, Learning Experiences, Assessment, and Ways Forward (ILAW) framework. Remember that the template is a guide, not a checklist.
Enhance Every Lesson. These cards serve as a practical guide for your instructional design. Integrate these strategies into your lesson planning to create a more impactful and inclusive learning environment.
Ensure technical compliance with the transition to new assessment practices.
Prepare for Adjusted Transmutation: For SY 2026-2027, ensure numerical grades for Grades 4-12 use the transitional table where a raw grade of 70.00 equals 75
Set Grading Weights (Key Stages 2-4): Configure class records for the 20% Written Works (WW), 50% Performance Tasks (PT), and 30% ST-TE weighted system
Set Up PACE Forms (KS1): Implement the Performance and Competency Evaluation (PACE) Form to progressively record qualitative evidence instead of one-time entry
Plan for Remediation (ARAL): Mark Week 5 on the calendar (after the first Summative Test) as the start date for targeted remedial interventions for at-risk learners
Review Academic Excellence Criteria: Note that candidates for awards must have a General Average of 95+ with no final grade below 85 in any learning area

Advanced planning to protect learning during disruptions.
Establish an Emergency Call Tree: Create a communication chain to safety-check every learner within 12 hours of a disruption
Pre-position Emergency Kits: Ensure you have a supply of identified learning resources (like learning packets) ready for distribution if needed
Update the LSCP: Finalize the Learning and Service Continuity Plan (LSCP) before the Opening Block and ensure parents are oriented on the continuity levels
(coming soon)
Engage in collaborative preparation.
Participate in LAC Sessions: Use peer-to-peer sessions to calibrate rubrics, share effective formative strategies, and exchange lesson plan and design strategies
Collaborative Lesson Planning: Organize / join grade-level sessions to streamline instructional preparation and share digital resources
Trauma-Informed Training: Ensure you have undergone training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and trauma-informed teaching to support learners during the Hinga (Check-in) or Hinto (Stop) levels of emergency
