The daily voyage of man to the unknown is always ended up with a reminiscence of how it was done. Thus, one has to embark with a dream, plan and steadfast action for a fruitful trip.
The dream of having a school is impossible for the people of La Suerte and for the benefactors behind it. But when the Hon. Atty. Nicanor C. De Leon, Municipal Mayor, thought of establishing a high school in La Suerte, he made it known to Mr. Alejandro M. Cuntapay, Principal I of Bayabat National High School and Dr. Romeo G. Ramirez, Principal I of Bayabat Elementary School.
The three, Hon. Mayor de Leon (the initiator), Mr. Cuntapay (the actor), and Dr. Ramirez (the representative) of the people of La Suerte, worked hand in hand and exhausted all possibilities for a cause. Thus BNHS-La Suerte Extension was born on June 8, 2006 with only 35 first year students, and Mrs. Lailanie F. Donato and Mrs. Marietes D. Garo as teachers.
The one-classroom building of La Suerte Elementary School serves as a witness of its first year of operation as a learning institutuion.
Years passed but Cuntapay’s leadership did not stop and De Leon’s support never ceased for they felt that best thing will happen for Bayabat National High School- La Suerte Extension. Support in all kinds was extended to the fullest for they wanted to prepare this institution as a learning institution which could fly at its best and would be tagged as SCHOOL OF HOPE someday somehow.
Third Year of its operation when an In-charge was assigned to oversee its operation. This was made possible through the initiative again of Mr. Alejandro M. Cuntapay. It was July 15, 2008 when Mrs. Maricel V. Medrano took the seat as Teacher-In-Charge, thereby giving her the authority to man the school’s operation both academic and physical wise.
Through the continuous support of the system partnered with the incessant and overflowing sustenance coming from the Provincial down to the Municipal Government both in financial and material things, through the undoubted support extended by the Barangay Officials of La Suerte and its nearby barangays, the untiring support of the parents through the SGC and the GPTA, and through the cooperation of all the teachers and students and other external stakeholders, the school was able to graduate its pioneer students March, 2010.
With the unwavering support of the local government and the unceasing effort of the School Principal, BNHS – La Suerte Extension worked for the possible acquisition of the 12,236 sq. meters government lot located at La Suerte, Amulung, Cagayan.
This did not stop them in their journey. Rather, they doubled their time to achieve more gold. Operation then continued, patience was stretched out especially to the commuters and non- permanent teachers until such time that they were able to get their share from the National Government. The school also continued to participate in all competitions, trainings and seminars it was asked to participate.
At present, Bayabat National High School – La Suerte Extension with the leadership of Mrs. Grace L. Tabaog still enjoys its role as a dwelling institution which readily extends its hands to the youths wanting them to turn to be professionals. After its nine years of operation, she was able to prove its worth for it is now attached in her name some of its lucky products who are now successful graduates both local and abroad.
Indeed, this is a clear manifestation that this school, our school starts now to carry its name as SCHOOL OF HOPE and will continue to soar high as we altogether work hand in hand towards the realization of its ultimate dream.
