Barangay Camam-onan is located approximately 12.9 kilometers from the national highway. It is bounded on the east by the Municipality of Claver, on the west by Barangay San Antonio, on the north by the Province of Agusan del Norte, and on the south by Barangay Sico-sico. The barangay is composed of eleven (11) sitios, one of which is Landing, from which the name Landing Elementary School was derived.
Almost all residents of Landing are members of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) community, specifically belonging to the Mamanwa tribe. The area is home to three (3) tribal communities—Bongogon, Kalatingga, and Pagbangayan—and approximately 85% of the learners in the school are Mamanwa. The school site is part of CADT-048 (Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title), affirming that it lies within the recognized ancestral domain of the Mamanwa people.
It can be reached through a single motorcycle—locally known as habal-habal or di katig—which is the most common mode of transportation used by the residents.
Landing Elementary School was established in May 2016 through the efforts of the late Ma’am Paulita E. Soriano, then Head Teacher II of Camam-onan Elementary School. The school was founded in response to the request of Mamanwa parents who sought to have an educational facility within their community, so that their children would no longer need to walk long distances and cross rivers just to attend school. This request for the school’s establishment was formally made through a letter from the local Datus to the Schools Division Superintendent, which led to the approval and construction of the school.
In 2021, the school began offering a complete grade level program from Kindergarten to Grade 6, making it fully capable of providing complete elementary education. The following year, in 2022, Landing Elementary School proudly held its first graduation ceremony.
Today, Landing Elementary School has been serving the community for nine (9) years and continues to operate as a fully functional learning institution dedicated to providing quality basic education to its learners.
